This paper: • Seeks to contribute to the ongoing reflection of the role of creativity and innovation in the education of future engineers in Asia • Creativity Awareness Index or CAI: a ratio of mentions of creativity compared to other relevant terms of interest • CAI in online portals of top universities, focusing on “Engineering and Technology” in Asia • H: CAI lower in engineering schools in Asia in comparison to top technical universities worldwide

Results: • Lack of awareness and understanding of creativity in engineering (Kazerounian and Foley, 2007; Schertz and Goldberg 2010) • Substantially higher creativity and innovation awareness in Asian universities compared to their global counterparts • Design is less prevalent in Asian than in global universities
