APPENDIX 1
The questions below will be used as a guide for analysing your current understanding
and use of The Arts within your classroom practice.
1. Please identify where you are in your experience/background knowledge of
incorporating the Arts within your classroom

Starting line (I am not very familiar with the current Arts syllabus and do not
feel confident with incorporating aspects to within my lesson plans)

On my Way (I am familiar with some aspects of the Arts curriculum and
occasionally incorporate some of these into my cross-curricular lesson plans)

Staying the Course (I am familiar with the current Arts syllabus and generally
incorporate it into my lesson plans)

Finish line (very familiar with the current Arts syllabus and regularly
incorporate components into my cross-curricular lesson plans)

2. If you selected any of the options above from 2-4, please state which of the five
Arts subjects you have previously used within your lesson planning (Dance,
Drama, Media Arts, Visual Arts, and Music) and please give a brief explanation
of how you did this.

3. Please state your level of confidence with the incorporation of the components
you have used on a scale from 1 (not confident) to 10 (very confident)
4. Write an individual goal for integrating the Arts within your personal
classroom practice

APPENDIX 4
Rationale for Personal Goal: Links to Current Professional Situation and Curriculum
Standards. Describe how your goal is linked to your current classroom practice, and write
out two or more of the achievement standards of the Australian Curriculum: The Arts
(relating to your year level)you will focus on to meet your goal.

APPENDIX 5
Write a description of your personal goal to be addressed for you to effectively
implement The Arts curriculum:
- Must be aligned to 2 or more standards of The Arts curriculum
- Must describe how the goal will impact professional growth and have a
verifiable effect on student learning relating to The Arts curriculum
- i.e. ‘I will (research, study, learn, analyse, etc.)…so that…’(describe the
potential effect on student learning of The Arts curriculum). Ensure you
consider the five subject areas of The Arts (Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Visual
Arts, and Music) when forming your response.

When sharing your response with your surrounding colleagues, ensure you have clearly
stated the specific area of professional growth you intend to focus on as well as your
intention having a verifiable effect on student learning
