  2. 2. The reservoir (lake) in Kostkowice is the unique place in Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Highland Chain. In summer you can bathe or go canoeing. It is situated not far from Podlesice, linked with it by a lot of touristic trails (routes). It is the best way to go for a Sunday trip. Its best adventage are numerous limestone rocks, pine forests and the Reserve – ‘’Góra Zborów’’.
  3. 3. The Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Highland Chain is rich in open bathing places, for example seasonal swimming pools situated nearby the forests.
  4. 4. The region of Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Highland Chain is rich in lands, ideal for the lovers of rock climbing and it is the biggest climbing area in Poland. There are climbing roads for both, the biginners and the advanced climbers.
  5. 5. The Jurassic Cycling Route (trail) of the Eagle’s Nests – the red touristic cycling route, which is about 190 km long. It links Kraków with Częstochowa. Like the foot route of eagle’s nests, it leads through the majority of Jurassic strongholds called ‘’Orle Gniazda’’. The route (trail) goes through the area of the Scenery Park of Eagle’s Nests.
  6. 6. The hill is about 50m high. It is possible to do sailing and thermal flights and also side-slips. The east slope – difficult start (precipice), difficult flight low above the forest and difficult landing (wires, forest…). It is always easterly or south – westerly wind. The south slope – for the beginners and not only. The wind is from the south or south – westerly. The best conditions are with the southerly wind. Easy start, it is worse when you land – you have two possibilities: either land on the field or at the foot of the hill. The huge field of maize at the foot of the hill creates a big contrast, distrubing thermals. Especially at the beginning of spring there can be created dangerous smokestacks, throwing the hang-gliders away even 0,5km up.
  7. 7. The most famous and the safest slope in this area. After coming into being it was closed for a long time and developed again in 1989. The slope is situated at the foot of the rock with the picturesque ruins of the castle. A lot of important events are organised there. The only disadvantage is the high price of the entrance tickets. This slope was designed for both beginners skiers and intermediate ones.
  8. 8. These are the most characteristic forms of Cracow-Częstochowa Jurassic Highland Chain created becouse of the precipitation of dead animals’ shells on the bottom of existing sea a long time ago. This way thick layers of limestone came into being. As the years went by, they started to be washed away by water and carbon dioxide. The caves were formed as a result of this phenomenon. These caves were a perfect shelter for the primatives. That’s why the first traces of human beings were found in this area of Poland.
  9. 9. There are a lot of famous castles in the area of Cracow-Częstochowa Highland Chain. It was mentioned as early as in the Middle Ages when the process of building the fortifications was already started. It was because of the defensive reasons. People were building castles and battlements to protect themselves from enemies.
  10. 10. It is the most famous and the most professional golf course (field). It is also the biggest place for playing golf in the east part of Europe. Its name is ,,Kraków Valley Golf and Country Club’’.
  11. 11. In recent years of XX century there was a trend in Poland to build recreational resorts with swimming-pools and slides. This interest of aquaparks didn’t pass over the Cracow and Częstochowa Jurassic Highland Chain. If you have a chance to be in big cities in this area and if the weather is bad, you can visit different swimming-pools and slides.
