Trabajo de Lisboa (inglés)
Lisbon history.
Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and its most important city. Its privileged location at the mouth of the Tagus
River made it one of the most influential cities for the domination of the Atlantic.
Lisbon was founded by the Phoenicians under the name of Ulissipo and was soon conquered by Greeks and
Carthaginians. Finally Lisbon became the capital of the Roman Lusitania called Olisipo. At the fall of the Romans,
it became part of the Suevian kingdom of Galicia until 585.
Lisbon neighborhoods.
Lisbon is divided into several clearly differentiated neighborhoods. To know the city it is
necessary to dedicate a little time to each one of them.
The most important neighborhoods are La Baixa, El Chiado, El Barrio Alto, La Alfama and
Belém. Each of these five neighborhoods has a unique spirit.
LA BAIXA. LA ALFAMA.
La Baixa is the most central district of Lisbon
and where most of the shops and
entertainment are located.
La Alfama is one of the most traditional
neighborhoods in Lisbon. Its narrow streets were
fishermen's residence for many years.
CHIADO Y BARRIO ALTO BELÉM
The chiado and the high district represent the most
bohemian and alternative Lisbon. Some define El
Chiado as the Montmartre of Lisbon.
In Belém you will find some of the most important
monuments of Lisbon and your visit is a must.
PARQUE DE LAS NACIONES
Park of the nations
The park of the nationsis the Lisbon area that was created for the
1998 Expo. It is a modern, lively area with many open spaces.
Transport in Lisboa.
The Lisbon public transport network works very well and, although we sometimes miss higher frequencies of
passage, it is quite punctual.
The main means of transport in Lisbon are: Tram, bus, elevators, Santa Justa elevator, metro and cards of two
types: Card 7 Colinas and Card.

Lisbon. There is no other public transportation to
the airport.
ELEVADORES
Lifts
The elevators of Lisbon are basically funiculars that
help to climb the steep and prolonged slopes of the
city. They are similar to trams.
ELEVADOR DE SANTA JUSTA
Santa Justa elevator
Halfway between transport and tourist attraction, the
Elevador de Santa Justa solved the problems that had
in Lisbon to communicate the high and low part of the
city.
METRO

The Metro of Lisbon is one of the most beautiful and
well cared for in Europe. It is a good way to get to the
center from the nearby neighborhoods.

What to eat?
In Portugal the lunch schedule is around 13 hours and the dinner is around 20 hours. Do not delay dinner much since
many restaurants begin to close about 21 hours.
Platos típicos de Lisboa
Typical dishes of lisbon
In general the typical Portuguese dishes collide with the Spanish taste. Some typical dishes are: the green broth,
made with cabbage and potato, the soup of nabicas, with leaves of turnip, the cooked to the Portuguese, the
crumbs of the Alentejo, a mixture of pork and marinated pork, feijoadas, stews Of white beans or pints
accompanied by slaughter.
Cuidado con los aperitivos
Beware of appetizers
A common practice in restaurants is to put on the
table some snacks that, unlike in Spain, are not a
detail, but if consumed they must be paid. If you
do not want to try them, it is best to say that they
are removed.
Mejores zonas para cenar
Best dining areas
One of the liveliest areas with the largest number of
restaurants is Rossio Square. In its surrounding streets
it is possible to find all kinds of restaurants.
