Read an article on Lawyerist: How lawyers manage networking tickler system. Create notebooks for each bucket: Inbox, Initiate/Re-Engage/Engaged/Follow Up/ Disengaged/Other. Process your inbox once a week, and move each scanned business card, note, etc around each notebook, and as you gather more information about that contact and the relationship, you can move those around too.
  13. Facebook, Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn all serve different purposes and allow you to express your brand in different voices. There’s instagram and snapchat out there, but I think those are inappropriate for professional services. There are tools to help you manage your social media calendar, PLUS analytics that let you see how your efforts are working out. It’s useful for you, but also if you hire an agency that they manage your social media over time using one of these accounts so that if you ever take it in house or move to a new agency, they should manage your social media in the same accounts. That way you have consistency in the event of a worst-case, and analytics that you’re used to, that carry over, and you can keep measuring what’s working and what’s not.
  14. Do you stay in touch with prospective clients, vendors, referring partners. It’s so simple to send out a monthly email blast. Do it And Don’t sell – just educate. Anything sales or advertising in many states would require prior approval or need to meet strict guidelines from your state bar. Educational material is NOT sales. Email marketing tools, with a variety of features and price points. Again, something to explore and see what’s right for you.
  15. Review your firm’s numbers- Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly Social Media Posts- A few times a week Blogging- 2 to 4 times per month. Content for social media! (Definitely LinkedIn) Business Retreat- once or twice per year, big ideas and direction Networking- As often as you can. Build your list, start getting connections in groups to make occasional touches Newsletter or communication with your entire list- once monthly or quarterly. Keep it educational so it’s not advertising. *Good topics are new laws that might prompt people to use your services Holiday Mailers- Start preparing these in mid-October or early November and make them a standard part of your operations. ** We didn’t talk about online advertising today. That's it’s own webinar. But these are focused on business development. Getting your name out there in cost-effective ways, that you can implement today. If you don’t have some or all of these items on your calendar for the rest of the year, find some time, and put them there THIS WEEK!
