MMDP: Who are we? <ul><li>The Multimedia Design and Production Department encompasses three main degree programs: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Multimedia Design and Production AAS (Print/Web) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Animation/Game Design </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Video and Web Production </li></ul></ul><ul><li>In addition, we have three certificate of proficiencies and three certificate of completions </li></ul><ul><li>We are one of the largest programs on campus with over 200 FTE. </li></ul>

The program review process <ul><li>To create our Program Review document, the full time faculty from the department met on Friday afternoons for 2 months to collaborate on the writing </li></ul><ul><ul><li>It enabled us to reflect on the direction that our department has taken, and solidify our vision of the future. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The Program Review process has been streamlined to help departments assess themselves </li></ul>

Major Findings <ul><li>Lab space is inadequate for the development of the MMDP program </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In order to achieve NASAD accreditations we need more studio space designed for painting, photography, and video </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>We would like to also see more spaces on campus where we can display student art work </li></ul></ul>

Major Findings (cont.) <ul><li>As our enrollment grows we need to make a concerted effort towards retention and completion </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Using the FAST system will help us serve our younger students population </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>We are setting pre-requisites on our classes to ensure that students are taking their Math and English requirements early in their degree path </li></ul></ul>

Major Findings (cont.) <ul><li>Many of our graduates are not employed in the design field </li></ul><ul><ul><li>We are trying to better prepare our students to be employed in the design field by creating a new Portfolio/Job Search Class </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Stronger ties with our industry connections to create opportunities for internships </li></ul></ul>

Action Plan <ul><li>Make our students work more visible on campus </li></ul><ul><li>Lobby for new facilities that will aid us in helping our students gain design skills </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain better contact with alumni </li></ul><ul><ul><li>We have started a Facebook group in hopes that we can reach out to alumni </li></ul></ul>
