Three large squares carved in a rock wall in the north of the island of Sardinia tell the story of the discovery of Australia, North America, and South America in the Third and Fourth Dy-nasties of Egypt. Australia was discovered by the 2nd king Djoser of the Third Dynasty (c.-2740 BC). New Zealand was discovered by the 8th king Huni (c.2670 BC). Finally, America was discovered via the Aleutian Islands by the 5th king Menkaure of the Fourth Dynasty (c.-2570 BC). The three major crossings of the Atlantic were discovered at the start the Fifth Dy-nasty, and the return route via Bermuda at the end of it. The carving probably dates from the Twelfth Dynasty.
