Reflective Essay on College Writing
Reflective Essay on College Writing
This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the
semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up
to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually
demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college
has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a
thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints are
not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free
moments I...show more content...
I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all
until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the
endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite
section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the
most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just
how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many
levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery
in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical
with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from
that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place.
The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I
began to like the stories and poems we read in class more and more as we discussed them and
looked at different authorities? opinions. I found a lot of the information in the databases very
useful. For the Antigone research project, the JSTORS database gave me hundreds of articles
dealing with my topic. I could narrow down what I was looking for and find numerous

500 Word Exit Essay For College Students
The next step of our lives
You're in your last year of college about to graduate, but first, the administration tells you that a
500–word exit essay is required. They want to see how you justify and articulate your preparation
for a post–graduate world and to demonstrate final evidence of your written communication skills,
but who seriously has time for that? I personally feel like it doesn't make sense for graduates to
write an exit essay on top of buying caps and gowns, preparing for their future, and also dealing with
other problems.
Even though it's just a simple task , some college students try their hardest to avoid those types of
things, especially during graduation week. During graduation week, students are looking forward the

"I got in!!" I screamed running around my house on December 15,2017. I couldn't believe it. I had
got into my dream school and was ready to commit until I finally read the the tiny white words,
"Undeclared: Division of General Studies", underneath the heading "Janiya, You're an Illini!" The
elated feeling I had evaporated just as quickly as it came. Those words told me that although I had
became an Illini, I was not admitted into either one of my majors.
I debated for months whether or not to write this appeal. I could not believe the decision for the
longest. Then, I started looking at myself. The college of engineering is extremely selective with a
middle 50% ACT score of 31–34. I was just outside that mark by 3 little points. My extracurriculars

Matter of fact, I did not know much about either major until my junior year. But once I found more
about these majors I could not see myself doing anything else with my life. I craved to know how
and why things worked within each major.
I know that looking at my ACT score, an admission board would only see the glaring issue: my
math and science ACT scores. These scores are not a fair representation of what I can do. I have
always excelled in math and science even going as far as being a year ahead in math. The ACT
does not represent the person and student I am. Between my first ACT and my second, I was able
to improve my own score by three points with just a twenty dollar book and a calculator (for some
parts at least). That is the student that I am. One who is willing to admit their mistakes and work
hard to fix them. I know for a fact that transferring into Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
will be next to impossible if I do not go into the university majoring in either and I really want to
attend this outstanding university. If given the chance, I intend to excel at every given chance. I plan
to make sure that those who have given me the chance to prove that I am better than my ACT score
don't regret the decision they

Essay on Returning to College as an Adult
Returning to College as an Adult Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and
preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our
college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting
one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After
doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often
misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the
relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors
play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college....show more content...
There are many options available from low–tuition state universities, financial aid, employer tuition
reimbursement. In some cases, you can be eligible for various types of grants. Being a single
mother or just shopping at a certain supermarket can make you eligible. There is a misconception
about the professors (sometimes called instructors). Questions arise such as; will they make time
for me when I need the extra help? How large will the class be? Will they understand that this may
not be as easy for me as it is for others? These questions enter our minds and may seem
discouraging at times. Through my personal experiences I have found that classroom atmospheres
may not always be for everyone. However, that does not mean college life is not for everyone. You
can take many alternative routes. You can take advantage of telecourses, online courses, accelerated
courses and many other options that may be more suitable. My professors have been great. They
come in earlier to help and return e–mails and/or phone calls promptly. You also expect to be able to
accomplish your work quickly and with minimal stress, leaving more time to work and spend
with your family. You expect to be able to do what you did in high school and still pass. However
college, by far, is nowhere as easy as most anticipate. You have to study, unlike high school, where
you could float on by with A's by seldomly attending class. College is harder than high school and

Preparing for College
Preparing For College
It is the dream of everyone to join college with the hope of getting a better tomorrow and a
foundation for them to make it in life. However, this may not be the case with some students as this
dream may turn into a nightmare. This is because many students fail to go through or others even
fail simply because they have not prepared enough; not just academically but also on the personal
side. Many college students lack vision, they still have not found their purpose to be in school. A
vision in this case is supposed to be kind of a "plan" for their college life. It is meant to guide
them and help them achieve the sole purpose for joining college and pursue careers of their dream
.When they lack goals, it is then that they are drowned into peer vices such as substance abuse and
they end up ruining not only education life but also their future. It would be advisable for higher
learning institutions to encourage freshmen students as they join college to develop goals. Another
symptom of inadequate preparation is lack of motivation. When a college student lacks motivation, it
is obvious that what follows is loss of desire to attend classes. This is followed by frequent
absenteeism and poor grades will be the final outcome. Laziness and failure to complete and submit
assignments on time is also caused by lack of motivation. Motivation is what a student entirely
relies upon since it is what fuels him or her towards the journey of success. It is what

Why I Chose When Attending A Small College
Most colleges/universities in the world are overpriced and it takes not only a lot of money, but
also perfect grades and exceptional extracurriculars to be able to get into them and pursue the
career you want. Smaller colleges are expensive as well, but not as overpriced like all the big
colleges. I would prefer to attend a small college in a small town. For example, I chose to attend
West Hills Coalinga because I thought it would be a great experience since it is a small college; I
come from a small town, therefore I would fit in better there than in a big school. West Hills
Coalinga has the same opportunities all colleges have, but not only that, you can save yourself
many personal and financial expenses as well. Going to a college in a big city is going to be
overpriced because in a big city everything is really expensive including housing, but if I were to

It is proven that there is less probability of crimes in a small town that in a big city. I would want to

knowing the town I live in is safe. I could get to know everyone. I would not feel like an outsider or
feel as though I did not belong like I would in the big city. I would feel more comfortable attending a
small college coming directly from a small high school. A lot of people say that you have better
opportunities going to a big college than going to a small college, but I believe attending a small
town college is better at least for me. There would be less distractions, less, expenses, less problems,
and I would not feel as far from home. You can still meets new people, make friends faster, and get

How will college change my life
"How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to
college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future
working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of
learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth
workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of
study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working
world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being

As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between
a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in
life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally.
The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An
adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule
is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool.
College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set
a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's
help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the
best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree.
College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I'm an adult and
expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to
me. I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a
chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College will change my life in the way that I can
develop life skills outside academics, to be fully

College Admissions Essay: My Passion
When people would say "My hobby is this," or "My passion is that," I would wonder how he or
she found an activity that they could completely devote themselves to. I always thought that I would
immediately know what my passion or hobby was when I encountered it. For me, it happened to be
music. My passion for music, however, didn't come immediately; music wasn't something that I said
to myself, "This is it. I've found my passion in life." The piano wasn't like that at all.
When I started to play the piano, you could say that I wasn't its biggest fan. In fact, I hated it. I
remember my eyes swimming across the page, lost in a sea of little black dots. I mumbled endless
mnemonic tricks to try to read the notes. Every single part of your body is engaged to make that
piano sing; your fingers must move independently; your hands, arms, shoulders, and back must

didn't have to use a stopwatch to make sure I had practiced enough. I could start to read the notes
without using any memorization tools, and, I actually began to enjoy my practice. Now, at

Essay on Reasons for Returning to College
Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step
in my personal and career goals. My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good
provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and
able to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely
expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it. The most recent motivator was that my
company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some
financial burden. This makes me feel like they truly care about my future and they really want to see
me succeed.

I am also attracted to the idea of being a life long learner. I feel there is always more to gain and
learning never ends. Whether it?s in the classroom, at home, or in social situations, everyone has
something to offer to me to expand my knowledge base. At the university, I hope to learn new
theories and practices that I?ve never thought about that I can apply to my daily life. My
classmates will tell of their experiences that may be forever imprinted into my memory. My
instructors have a wealth of knowledge that I am eager to absorb. I feel that knowledge and
information are the most powerful tools to possess and use in everyday situations.
At this point in my life, I am content with where I am now, but I know there is more out there. If I
do not concentrate on my goals that I am mentally and physically capable to accomplish, my self
esteem tends to suffer. It is important to obtain my goals in order to be fully content in my personal
life.
I thrive on a good challenge. For example, if an assigned task is too easy, I tend to get bored and
undervalue myself as a whole. I wonder why this person assigned this task to me; do they think I
am not capable of a more difficult task? I expect my courses at the university to challenge me in
ways I have never been challenged before.
The last reason I am returning to school is because I want to be a role model for my son. I feel

Persuasive Essay On Choosing A College
Deciding on a college is a stressful time in any student's life. All students deal with stress about their
future after high school, regardless of whether they plan for college or not. Some may think that
students are making the decision into something more difficult than it has to be; however, this is an
incredibly important time in any student's life. It entails a lot of thought. Like putting on makeup,
deciding on a school requires effort and creativity, but both can show who a person is. Choosing a
school requires hard work and preparation, creativity for students to express themselves, and freedom
to decide exactly what they want. To qualify for certain colleges, students must be focused
throughout high school. Some schools can be selective on who they accept while others have high
acceptance rates; some schools require classes that others do not. Students need to put in the effort
and dedication to qualify for the schools they believe would be the best fit. For these students,
grades are not something they can only put partial effort into. To maintain their grades, students
keep track of their assignments and work hard throughout all of high school. Students get the option
to be creative while choosing their schools because whatever school is chosen will be used to
express themselves. After choosing a school, the student will strongly align themselves with that
school. Schools offer merchandise because when students like a school they want to represent it;
thus proves that many people use schools' names or logos as a means to express themselves.
However, for prospective students finding a school to align with can be stressful. They have to know
exactly what traits they desire. One thing people may consider: community college or university.
Some go to community college because they are unsure of their major; some go to trade schools
because they only want to learn skills for a certain job; some go straight to a four–year university;
some students do not go to any college. A person's choice in their education depends on their
personal preferences: how much work they are willing to put in, who they want to align with, and
freedom to choose what they want to do.
Similarly, makeup requires a lot of

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

It is said that bragging makes you seem less impressive, if you are doing something worth

My Dreams For College
Every kid dreams of college. Then as your go throughout school, family, friends, sports and other
things just get in the way of life, college becomes a just a little worry. As your grow and move up

Expectations And Expectations In College
Expectations and Goals As a new freshman, the next four years of my life can seem extremely
daunting, with huge possibilities as to the kind of person that I want to be when I graduate.
College is known as a transformation period in the life of a young adult, and I hope to take full
advantage of this time. By setting expectations and goals for myself, hopefully I can be
successful as I seek out the person that God wants me to be. I have set up, and outlined,
academic, spiritual, and personal goals to achieve my first semester here at college. For this
semester, I have set a high expectation for myself academically. Specifically, I would like to be
able to maintain all A's, and therefore a 4.0 GPA. If I am able to do this, and possibly continue it
on through all eight semesters of my college career, I will be a more competitive applicant for PA
school, or med school, or whatever post undergraduate schooling that my future entails. Not only
would achieving this goal be beneficial to my future career, I hope to honor Christ by working
hard in everything that I do, and this is one way that I can do that. This goal is measurable
because I can regularly check my grades to make sure that I am staying on track with each class
to attain this goal. I believe that getting all A's is also achievable is I remained focused and
driven, delegating ahead of time the study time that I will need to be successful in each of my
classes. For each hour that I spend in a class, I will plan on spending at least three hours outside of
class with the covered material to be successful. This can be realistic if I am careful to make sure
that I don't commit myself too heavily to extracurricular activities. While I will be checking my
grades weekly, half–way through the semester I will evaluate my study strategies, and whether they
were successful or need to be changed to stay on target. Ultimately, I would like to see myself
meet this goal at the end of the semester and carry the habits that I have learned to the rest of my
college career. Spiritually, I know that this time is quintessential in the establishing of my faith and
walk with Christ. My goal is to set habits and practices for myself that will help me grow spiritually.

College: Is It Worth It? Essay
We are told to "go to college" by family, media, and teachers, but we are never given an
explanation on why it's important for us to get a higher education. The importance of higher
education is so we can obtain a career that can support our needs and wants. It's also important
because it gives you an advantage when trying to get a job. Employers require a higher form of
education, which is necessary for our society to advance. There aren't many jobs that accept people
with a high school diploma as their highest form of education. Employers want people that know
what they're doing, and so does our society. In order for people to go into the career field they want,
they need to go to college to learn everything that comes with that career....show more content...
What we get out of the college experience, we use in our day to day lives. Even the things we
think aren't important or useful end up becoming helpful. The material we learn in college is
fundamental when it comes jobs and life in general. We are taught to make choices. We are
taught how the real world works, and how to turn our education into our way of life. "...the really
significant education in thinking that we're supposed to get in a place like this isn't really about
the capacity to think, but rather about the choice of what to think about." (Wallace 199). Not
only do we get a lot out of getting a college degree in what we want to do, but so does our society.
There are requirements for every job for a reason. Jobs need people that specialize in just that
career field. They want us to be passionate about what we do and more importantly know exactly
what we are doing. For example, hospitals have no room for mistakes because not only may it cost
a life, it can also costs them money. We feel safer knowing people know how to do their jobs
right. College education is necessary whenever there is a shortage in certain careers. It's important
to have higher education so there can be growth and competition in our society. It takes money to
make money. It does cost a lot to pay for college, but in the end it's worth it. By the end of the
college process, we can have a college degree and could be getting

We have been told that we live in a free country, but if our country is so called "free," how come
paying for an education isn't? The most important in my case and many low income students is
trying to attend college and being able to pay without going into debt. I find myself, since 2010,
hearing the same stories of previous college graduate, who have gone into debt by the time they
reached their sophomore year of college. Excited to venture out...show more content...
The student loan debt has reached up to $1.2 trillion in federal debt; student loans are the second
highest consumer debt. A quick economics lesson, the national debt causes many consequences
when our economy isn't functioning in the level it should be, it causes our economic growth to
slow down and therefore less jobs are available and it causes interest rates to rise. According to
Chris Denhart, it's safer to receive federal loans rather than private loans. Federal student loans
are easier to pay and much rather safer, because federal loans are based on the income of the
student, they have fixed interest rates, and don't have to start paying until nine months later,
"making them a much safer loan for students to take." (1) On the contrary, with private loans that
isn't the case. "Private loans have done away with late fees, and in fine print have redefined the
right to claim default on the loan after missing a single payment," (1) what does that mean?
Simple, you can't afford to miss a payment and if you do prepare to have a bad credit. A result of
bad credit would lead to negative effects in the future as well. By having bad credit students in the
long run won't be able to invest in a house, a car, a business, etc., which would leave the economy
without any money coming in. "As a nation, we need more college graduates in order to stay
competitive in the global economy,"

Sample Essays For College

  • 1. Reflective Essay on College Writing Reflective Essay on College Writing This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I...show more content... I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place. The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I began to like the stories and poems we read in class more and more as we discussed them and looked at different authorities? opinions. I found a lot of the information in the databases very useful. For the Antigone research project, the JSTORS database gave me hundreds of articles dealing with my topic. I could narrow down what I was looking for and find numerous Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. 500 Word Exit Essay For College Students The next step of our lives You're in your last year of college about to graduate, but first, the administration tells you that a 500–word exit essay is required. They want to see how you justify and articulate your preparation for a post–graduate world and to demonstrate final evidence of your written communication skills, but who seriously has time for that? I personally feel like it doesn't make sense for graduates to write an exit essay on top of buying caps and gowns, preparing for their future, and also dealing with other problems. Even though it's just a simple task , some college students try their hardest to avoid those types of things, especially during graduation week. During graduation week, students are looking forward the time Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Sample Admission Essay For College "I got in!!" I screamed running around my house on December 15,2017. I couldn't believe it. I had got into my dream school and was ready to commit until I finally read the the tiny white words, "Undeclared: Division of General Studies", underneath the heading "Janiya, You're an Illini!" The elated feeling I had evaporated just as quickly as it came. Those words told me that although I had became an Illini, I was not admitted into either one of my majors. I debated for months whether or not to write this appeal. I could not believe the decision for the longest. Then, I started looking at myself. The college of engineering is extremely selective with a middle 50% ACT score of 31–34. I was just outside that mark by 3 little points. My extracurriculars ...show more content... Matter of fact, I did not know much about either major until my junior year. But once I found more about these majors I could not see myself doing anything else with my life. I craved to know how and why things worked within each major. I know that looking at my ACT score, an admission board would only see the glaring issue: my math and science ACT scores. These scores are not a fair representation of what I can do. I have always excelled in math and science even going as far as being a year ahead in math. The ACT does not represent the person and student I am. Between my first ACT and my second, I was able to improve my own score by three points with just a twenty dollar book and a calculator (for some parts at least). That is the student that I am. One who is willing to admit their mistakes and work hard to fix them. I know for a fact that transferring into Computer Science or Electrical Engineering will be next to impossible if I do not go into the university majoring in either and I really want to attend this outstanding university. If given the chance, I intend to excel at every given chance. I plan to make sure that those who have given me the chance to prove that I am better than my ACT score don't regret the decision they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on Returning to College as an Adult Returning to College as an Adult Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college....show more content... There are many options available from low–tuition state universities, financial aid, employer tuition reimbursement. In some cases, you can be eligible for various types of grants. Being a single mother or just shopping at a certain supermarket can make you eligible. There is a misconception about the professors (sometimes called instructors). Questions arise such as; will they make time for me when I need the extra help? How large will the class be? Will they understand that this may not be as easy for me as it is for others? These questions enter our minds and may seem discouraging at times. Through my personal experiences I have found that classroom atmospheres may not always be for everyone. However, that does not mean college life is not for everyone. You can take many alternative routes. You can take advantage of telecourses, online courses, accelerated courses and many other options that may be more suitable. My professors have been great. They come in earlier to help and return e–mails and/or phone calls promptly. You also expect to be able to accomplish your work quickly and with minimal stress, leaving more time to work and spend with your family. You expect to be able to do what you did in high school and still pass. However college, by far, is nowhere as easy as most anticipate. You have to study, unlike high school, where you could float on by with A's by seldomly attending class. College is harder than high school and therefore Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Preparing for College Preparing For College It is the dream of everyone to join college with the hope of getting a better tomorrow and a foundation for them to make it in life. However, this may not be the case with some students as this dream may turn into a nightmare. This is because many students fail to go through or others even fail simply because they have not prepared enough; not just academically but also on the personal side. Many college students lack vision, they still have not found their purpose to be in school. A vision in this case is supposed to be kind of a "plan" for their college life. It is meant to guide them and help them achieve the sole purpose for joining college and pursue careers of their dream .When they lack goals, it is then that they are drowned into peer vices such as substance abuse and they end up ruining not only education life but also their future. It would be advisable for higher learning institutions to encourage freshmen students as they join college to develop goals. Another symptom of inadequate preparation is lack of motivation. When a college student lacks motivation, it is obvious that what follows is loss of desire to attend classes. This is followed by frequent absenteeism and poor grades will be the final outcome. Laziness and failure to complete and submit assignments on time is also caused by lack of motivation. Motivation is what a student entirely relies upon since it is what fuels him or her towards the journey of success. It is what Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Why I Chose When Attending A Small College Most colleges/universities in the world are overpriced and it takes not only a lot of money, but also perfect grades and exceptional extracurriculars to be able to get into them and pursue the career you want. Smaller colleges are expensive as well, but not as overpriced like all the big colleges. I would prefer to attend a small college in a small town. For example, I chose to attend West Hills Coalinga because I thought it would be a great experience since it is a small college; I come from a small town, therefore I would fit in better there than in a big school. West Hills Coalinga has the same opportunities all colleges have, but not only that, you can save yourself many personal and financial expenses as well. Going to a college in a big city is going to be overpriced because in a big city everything is really expensive including housing, but if I were to ...show more content... It is proven that there is less probability of crimes in a small town that in a big city. I would want to live somewhere safe because with the probability of attending evening classes, I would feel better knowing the town I live in is safe. I could get to know everyone. I would not feel like an outsider or feel as though I did not belong like I would in the big city. I would feel more comfortable attending a small college coming directly from a small high school. A lot of people say that you have better opportunities going to a big college than going to a small college, but I believe attending a small town college is better at least for me. There would be less distractions, less, expenses, less problems, and I would not feel as far from home. You can still meets new people, make friends faster, and get to know them better. Attending a small college and living in a small town would save me a lot of stress and I would also save a lot of money than if I were to attend a big college and live in a big Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Ubc Admission Essay Sample Vancouver School of Economics at UBC. I first found my passion for economics was in high school. I took The Introduction to Economics in grade 12 and I received the grade of 92%. Since then I decided to develop a deep understanding of the economy, therefore, I was enrolled in The Vancouver School of Economics (VSE). Studying in VSE required us to deliver a great number of presentations, which has enhanced my confidence and communication skills. Also, this program has promoted leadership skills and teamwork skills which have prepared me well for further study. In my opinion, learning Economics in more than one countries would be helpful with my academic knowledge and a good image for future occupations. It was this idea that motivated me in my current application for the exchange program at University College London in The United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is a country full of cultural diversity, where ancient buildings sit alongside contemporary architecture. The UK is also famous for academics, it is one of the most popular countries to go for earning a high–quality education. The UK institutions rank among the best in the world. • 8. How will college change my life "How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one's own actions...show more content... As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally. The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree. College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I'm an adult and expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me. I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College will change my life in the way that I can develop life skills outside academics, to be fully Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Example Of Narrative Essay For College Four years ago, I was eagerly listening to Alex McDaniel, an award–winning journalist share her personal insight into the profession at the University of Mississippi when it finally dawned on me: journalism is my calling. Later, I was watching Spotlight, a movie about the efforts of the Boston Globe in the early 2000's to showcase the Church's acknowledgment and blunt protection of the abuse of children by local priests, when I truly understood the importance of journalism. To this day, Spotlight remains a reminder to always print the un–biased truth for the people, no matter the risks. I believe I deserve to be selected for one of the Education Foundation of Greenville's scholarships because as a hard–working student I commit myself to effectively take advantage of the opportunity that the scholarships will provide me. Besides, I am a student that does not only persistently works hard academically, but...show more content... • 10. College Admissions Essay: My Passion When people would say "My hobby is this," or "My passion is that," I would wonder how he or she found an activity that they could completely devote themselves to. I always thought that I would immediately know what my passion or hobby was when I encountered it. For me, it happened to be music. My passion for music, however, didn't come immediately; music wasn't something that I said to myself, "This is it. I've found my passion in life." The piano wasn't like that at all. When I started to play the piano, you could say that I wasn't its biggest fan. In fact, I hated it. I remember my eyes swimming across the page, lost in a sea of little black dots. I mumbled endless mnemonic tricks to try to read the notes. Every single part of your body is engaged to make that piano sing; your fingers must move independently; your hands, arms, shoulders, and back must supply the weight to depress the keys; your feet must push the pedals, and...show more content... With that encompassing wisdom that you never understand until later, they made me keep at it. Without my parents pushing and forcing me to continue my musical studies, I wouldn't have continued playing. And then, when I was about eight or nine, something started to happen. I didn't have to use a stopwatch to make sure I had practiced enough. I could start to read the notes without using any memorization tools, and, I actually began to enjoy my practice. Now, at fifteen, nobody has to force me to practice anymore. Out of my own accord, I take several hours out of every day to pursue this art that I've been chasing for ten years. I enjoy it, I live in it, and it has become an inseparable part of me. This art has taken me places and introduced me to people I would never have met without music. • 11. Essay on Reasons for Returning to College Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it. • 12. Persuasive Essay On Choosing A College Deciding on a college is a stressful time in any student's life. All students deal with stress about their future after high school, regardless of whether they plan for college or not. Some may think that students are making the decision into something more difficult than it has to be; however, this is an incredibly important time in any student's life. It entails a lot of thought. Like putting on makeup, deciding on a school requires effort and creativity, but both can show who a person is. Choosing a school requires hard work and preparation, creativity for students to express themselves, and freedom to decide exactly what they want. To qualify for certain colleges, students must be focused throughout high school. Some schools can be selective on who they accept while others have high acceptance rates; some schools require classes that others do not. Students need to put in the effort and dedication to qualify for the schools they believe would be the best fit. For these students, grades are not something they can only put partial effort into. To maintain their grades, students keep track of their assignments and work hard throughout all of high school. Students get the option to be creative while choosing their schools because whatever school is chosen will be used to express themselves. After choosing a school, the student will strongly align themselves with that school. Schools offer merchandise because when students like a school they want to represent it; thus proves that many people use schools' names or logos as a means to express themselves. However, for prospective students finding a school to align with can be stressful. They have to know exactly what traits they desire. One thing people may consider: community college or university. Some go to community college because they are unsure of their major; some go to trade schools because they only want to learn skills for a certain job; some go straight to a four–year university; some students do not go to any college. A person's choice in their education depends on their personal preferences: how much work they are willing to put in, who they want to align with, and freedom to choose what they want to do. Similarly, makeup requires a lot of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Personal Reflective Essay To College I have been a student at Bethel since July 2016. Before getting started in the program I discussed the commitment with my family and my boss who were both very supportive. With my current workload and family life I was a little concerned about managing both. I put together a schedule with time blocked for me to try to get my studies done or at least theses are weekly goals. I try very hard to get up on Saturday mornings early before my family and start the next week by reading, listening to the attend section and working on the complete section questions. On Mondays, I block time at work on my lunch hour to write and review my discussion response, that way I can have it submitted by Tuesday of each week. Then on Friday mornings before I leave for work or that evening depending on my schedule, I try to submit the complete section that I have worked on during the past weekend or during that week. • 15. Personal Essay For College Personal essay It is said that bragging makes you seem less impressive, if you are doing something worth bragging about, others will brag for you. However sometimes we have to impress others by talking about ourselves in order to be in the right place that we deserve. In this personal essay, I will try concluding and presenting myself as a suitable graduate student in a Radiobiological program, who for sure can have a seat in an American school funded by Fulbright. To begin, I suppose I am lucky to be born with a free thinking brain. So ever since young, manipulation numbers and figures came easy to me. These problems prevented me from going on to a medical school. So I entered the Engineering College at the Islamic University Of Gaza. Even my score was very good after the first year, I decided to change my field of studying to another one that joins both, medicine which I really want and physics which I am really good at. As a result of my decision, I moved to Al Azhar University and started studying in the Medical Imaging Department. The first year went very well, but at the end of it I realized that the topics which I was studying is under my estimations, I fall in a depression which has affected my scores in the second year, and in the first semester of the third year. After which I met a friend who went to America by a scholarship program. He told me that I can apply for a scholarship and go abroad to complete my studies in the field that I want. I really liked the idea and started working to achieve it. I realized from that moment that I have to maintain my scores above B2. So, I revised all the subjects that I have missed during the previous semesters, and started to learn English language. After I have graduated from the University, I decided to apply for Fulbright Program. But why for that program particularly, and why I keen on studying in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Then as your go throughout school, family, friends, sports and other things just get in the way of life, college becomes a just a little worry. As your grow and move up in school, high school hit you in the face. First, you're a freshman, then a sophomore, then a junior, and then finally a senior. I never truly believed when people would tell me that high school goes by fast, but it does and it did. When I was a freshman college crossed my mind and then it left. Fast forward to junior year and senior year the thought of college was around the corner. Everything I did to prepare for college was very last minute. How was I prepared for college? My dream for college slowly faded. Around the time of my junior year high school my father lost his job, and things when downhill from there. All four of my siblings attended a private school, Parkview Adventist Academy in Oklahoma, City. Any parent who knows how private school works knows that it costs a lot of money just for a student to go there. Well imagine four kids attending private school. So money got tight and we were barely meeting every month tuition. We eventually found a sponsor and that helped us a little. My senior of high school my God a job, and finishing out high school was looking promising again. But now it was the start of applying and looking for which college college to attend. • 17. Expectations And Expectations In College Expectations and Goals As a new freshman, the next four years of my life can seem extremely daunting, with huge possibilities as to the kind of person that I want to be when I graduate. College is known as a transformation period in the life of a young adult, and I hope to take full advantage of this time. By setting expectations and goals for myself, hopefully I can be successful as I seek out the person that God wants me to be. I have set up, and outlined, academic, spiritual, and personal goals to achieve my first semester here at college. For this semester, I have set a high expectation for myself academically. Specifically, I would like to be able to maintain all A's, and therefore a 4.0 GPA. If I am able to do this, and possibly continue it on through all eight semesters of my college career, I will be a more competitive applicant for PA school, or med school, or whatever post undergraduate schooling that my future entails. Not only would achieving this goal be beneficial to my future career, I hope to honor Christ by working hard in everything that I do, and this is one way that I can do that. This goal is measurable because I can regularly check my grades to make sure that I am staying on track with each class to attain this goal. I believe that getting all A's is also achievable is I remained focused and driven, delegating ahead of time the study time that I will need to be successful in each of my classes. For each hour that I spend in a class, I will plan on spending at least three hours outside of class with the covered material to be successful. This can be realistic if I am careful to make sure that I don't commit myself too heavily to extracurricular activities. While I will be checking my grades weekly, half–way through the semester I will evaluate my study strategies, and whether they were successful or need to be changed to stay on target. Ultimately, I would like to see myself meet this goal at the end of the semester and carry the habits that I have learned to the rest of my college career. Spiritually, I know that this time is quintessential in the establishing of my faith and walk with Christ. My goal is to set habits and practices for myself that will help me grow spiritually. • 18. College: Is It Worth It? Essay We are told to "go to college" by family, media, and teachers, but we are never given an explanation on why it's important for us to get a higher education. The importance of higher education is so we can obtain a career that can support our needs and wants. It's also important because it gives you an advantage when trying to get a job. Employers require a higher form of education, which is necessary for our society to advance. There aren't many jobs that accept people with a high school diploma as their highest form of education. Employers want people that know what they're doing, and so does our society. In order for people to go into the career field they want, they need to go to college to learn everything that comes with that career....show more content... What we get out of the college experience, we use in our day to day lives. Even the things we think aren't important or useful end up becoming helpful. The material we learn in college is fundamental when it comes jobs and life in general. We are taught to make choices. We are taught how the real world works, and how to turn our education into our way of life. "...the really significant education in thinking that we're supposed to get in a place like this isn't really about the capacity to think, but rather about the choice of what to think about." (Wallace 199). Not only do we get a lot out of getting a college degree in what we want to do, but so does our society. There are requirements for every job for a reason. Jobs need people that specialize in just that career field. They want us to be passionate about what we do and more importantly know exactly what we are doing. For example, hospitals have no room for mistakes because not only may it cost a life, it can also costs them money. We feel safer knowing people know how to do their jobs right. College education is necessary whenever there is a shortage in certain careers. It's important to have higher education so there can be growth and competition in our society. It takes money to make money. It does cost a lot to pay for college, but in the end it's worth it. By the end of the college process, we can have a college degree and could be getting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Essay about College Expense Congrats! You've been accepted to the college of your choice; now all that's left to figure out is how you'll pay for college. Unfortunately, college costs don't end at tuition and room and board you'll also have to pay for textbooks, meals, transportation, and a computer with working internet. We have been told that we live in a free country, but if our country is so called "free," how come paying for an education isn't? The most important in my case and many low income students is trying to attend college and being able to pay without going into debt. I find myself, since 2010, hearing the same stories of previous college graduate, who have gone into debt by the time they reached their sophomore year of college. Excited to venture out...show more content... The student loan debt has reached up to $1.2 trillion in federal debt; student loans are the second highest consumer debt. A quick economics lesson, the national debt causes many consequences when our economy isn't functioning in the level it should be, it causes our economic growth to slow down and therefore less jobs are available and it causes interest rates to rise. According to Chris Denhart, it's safer to receive federal loans rather than private loans. Federal student loans are easier to pay and much rather safer, because federal loans are based on the income of the student, they have fixed interest rates, and don't have to start paying until nine months later, "making them a much safer loan for students to take." (1) On the contrary, with private loans that isn't the case. "Private loans have done away with late fees, and in fine print have redefined the right to claim default on the loan after missing a single payment," (1) what does that mean? Simple, you can't afford to miss a payment and if you do prepare to have a bad credit. A result of bad credit would lead to negative effects in the future as well. By having bad credit students in the long run won't be able to invest in a house, a car, a business, etc., which would leave the economy without any money coming in.
