1. 1. EM Bokashi
 2. 2. EM Bokashi (Fermented Organic matter with EM )

Anaerobic EM Bokashi

Can be used for

agriculture as organic fertilizer,

animal husbandly/aquaculture as a feed additive,

kitchen garbage treatment.

Longer fermentation period compared to aerobic type.

The quality is stable under anaerobic condition and can be kept longer than aerobic type.

Aerobic EM Bokashi

Mainly used for agriculture as organic fertilizer.

Easily produced on a large scale compared to the anaerobic type.

 3. 3. Anaerobic EM Bokashi
 4. 4. -Suitable Materials for anaerobic Bokashi

As main materials(over 50% by volume):

Rice bran, Wheat bran, corn meal etc

*material with high carbohydrate content

Can be mixed with:

Soybean meal, Oil Cake, Rice husk, Wheat husk, Bean husk, Fish meal, Bone meal, Crab Shell etc

*contaminated materials can not be mixed

Materials -EM ・ 1 and Molasses 1-5 % to the water volume -Clean water About 30% of Materials by weight (20-30L for 100kg materials)
 5. 5. EM 1-5% of water volume Molasses 1-5% of water volume Water Preparation of EM solution EM ・ 1 About 30% of Materials by weight (20-30L for 100kg materials) *depending on the water content of materials
 6. 6. Mix Organic Materials and EM solution The moisture content of the final mixture 30 - 40 %
 7. 7. Plastic containers Plastic Bags Fermentation - Keep in an air-tight condition
 8. 8. EM Bokashi is ready for use, when it has a sweet-sour fermented smell. Anaerobic EM Bokashi can be matured with longer fermentation period. 2 - 3 weeks
 9. 9. If the anaerobic Bokashi is exposed to the air, white mold will appear on the surface. This is harmless itself but gradually leads to quality deterioration and to putrefaction finally. Keep anaerobic during fermentation and storage!! Especially for feeding animals check the smell and make sure the quality of Bokashi. *Remove the moldy part.
 10. 10. Aerobic Type EM Bokashi
 11. 11. -Suitable Materials for aerobic Bokashi

Materials group 1: Use at least 10% of total amount.

Rice bran, Wheat bran, Corn meal etc

*material with high carbohydrate content

Materials group 2:

Animal dung, Soybean meal, Oil Cake, Fish meal, Bone meal etc

*material with high nutrient content

Materials group 3:

Rice husk, Wheat husk, Bean husk, rice straw charcoal

*material with high C/N ratio or other organic matter

*The mix ratio depends on the purpose.

Materials -EM ・ 1 and Molasses 1-5 % to the water volume -Clean water
 12. 12. EM ・ 1 1-5% of water volume Molasses 1-5% of water volume Water 90% Preparation of EM solution About 30% of Materials by weight (20-30L for 100kg materials) *depending on the water content of materials EM ・ 1
 13. 13. Mix Organic Materials and EM solution The moisture content of the final mixture 40 - 50 %
 14. 14. During Fermentation No Rain No direct sunlight
 15. 15. Turn over the mixture if its temperature exceeds 50 o C Management during fermentation
 16. 16. EM Bokashi is ready for use when - it has a sweet-sour fermented smell. - its temperature is stable. About 1 week
 17. 17. Storage of EM Bokashi (Aerobic Type) Dry without direct sunlight Aerobic EM Bokashi can be kept about 6 months under good storage condition. Packing
 18. 18. EM Compost EM can be applied to normal composting method to improve the quality, accelerate the decomposition process and suppress odor.
 19. 19. EM ・ 1 or EMAS 1 % Water Preparation of EM solution *1% Molasses can be added to enhance the decomposition process.
 20. 20. 1 m Soaked Straw Rice Bran + Chicken Manure EM-Molasses 1% solution Case study Making EM compost with rice straw and chicken manure in Myanmar.

When used as base fertilizer or for nursery soil, it should be mixed with soil in advance(at least 1 week before planting).
