  5. 5. • In the task oriented styles of leadership, more importance is given to getting the work done by subordinates.• Task-oriented leaders are interested in the completion of work and do not give importance/attention to subordinates or their desires, interests and so on.• Dictatorial leader and autocratic leader are the examples of this category.
  6. 6. •People-oriented style of leadership is basically democratic.•Here, the leader gives importance to the interests,thoughts, problems, etc. of subordinates.•Leader tries to achieve objectives with their support andco-operation.•Participative or democratic leader comes under thiscategory.
  7. 7.  Autocratic leadership is an extreme form of transactionalleadership, where a leader exerts high levels of power overhis or her employees or team members. Autocratic leadership style is considered the classicalapproach. The manager does not consult employees, nor are theyallowed to give any input. Employees are expected to obeyorders without receiving any explanations. The motivation environment is produced by creating astructured set of rewards and punishments.
  8. 8. The democratic leadership style is also called the participative style asit encourages employees to be a part of the decision making. The democratic manager keeps his or her employees informed abouteverything that affects their work and shares decision making andproblem solving responsibilities. Democratic leadership can produce high quality and high quantitywork for long periods of time. As participation takes time, this style can lead to things happeningmore slowly than an autocratic approach, but often the end result isbetter. . It can be most suitable where team working is essential, and qualityis more important than speed to market or productivity.
  9. 9. Bureaucratic leaders work by the book, ensuring that theirstaff follow procedures exactly. They follow all the rules andformalities of the organization. In other words Bureaucratic leadership is where Everythingmust be done according to procedure or policy. Bureaucratic leaders does not believe in new ideas. Hewants his subordinates to follow all his orders.This leadership style result in red tapism and unwantedpaper work.
  10. 10. In this type of leadership a leader who leaves his or hercolleagues to get on with their work. In other words It is one in which the manager provideslittle or no direction and gives employees as much freedom aspossible. All authority or power is given to the employees and theymust determine goals, make decisions, and resolve problemson their own. It can be effective if the leader monitors what is beingachieved and communicates this back to his or her teamregularly.
