3. Been working for a while now on a complex medical product that has disrupted the market over 20 yrs
ago, but is now loosing ground to young, innovative, competitors.
one of the questions we must ask in the process is – where is medical tech going and what will future
medical interfaces look like

4. The whole world is being disrupted in almost every part of our lives
Markets change
He who does not create change, is forced to change or become irrelevant

5. The world of medicine is ripe for a change
Both patients and care givers are ready for that change
The technology to allow that change is becoming increasingly ripe and accessible
Accessibility = adoption = accelerated matureness etc.

8. The doctor has decided to send you to get a chest scan
Well – you know how THAT works:
You schedule your appointment, wait a month or two (Procedures are slow, not enough doctors and
technicians etc...)
When the day arrives, you get to wait hours before you actually go in and some times days before you get
your answers back.
It’s a slow process because there is lots of work to be done, very little room for errors and too few
specialists to handle the whole thing.
Now what if those specialists had some help?!...

10. Your radiology indicates you need a chest-operation
Nothing too big: a simple procedure, but hey – for you it IS a big deal.
When the time comes – you are brought in, put to sleep and procedure begins.
You have the best doctors around – but when they work, they look more to the monitors around
them – than they actually look at you – the patient.
With some procedures that’s quite OK, but with others that’s a very problematic situation that
doctors need to juggle and master despite the best interest of the patient.
Now what would it be like if surgeons could actually look at their patient throughout the
procedure, and never miss one bit of important information?
What if they could actually see MORE than they see now?!....

14. Now say something goes terribly wrong and the OR goes into emergency mode.
In such cases – the OR staff has to handle the situation, while calling for extra help and
trying to understand what is happening, at the same time.
It’s a life risking situation and pressure takes it’s toll on everyone in the room.
Think what would happen if they had some help, from the OR itself.
A young, promising, Israeli startup in stealth mode, is working on turning the OR into a
living-thinking and reacting entity, to help staff with it’s day to day AND emergency
situations. Using Machine learning, Artificial intelligence, Voice UI and more, they aim to
turn the OR itself into much more than the container it is today
The OR becomes an interactive entity – assisting staff in time of need

15. All these may actually be mid-way technologies, bridging the gap between today and
the day when doctors will no longer be the ones examining or treating us
Nano-robots might be the real disruptors of medical.
As Nano-robotics is already practiced in several aspects of medical science, the
technology seems far from ripe and at the moment, we can only imagine what Nano-
sized robots will have the power to do to medicine and to the human body, in the not
so far future

16. Summary:
The future interfaces of medical, will probably be based on these technologies
Technology will not eliminate human staff in the near future
It will, though, empower human staff, bring more efficiency into medical and medical supportive
procedures and will make medical-staff more available for their patients and allow them to focus on the
patients health and well-being.
