We are about helping independent artists through discovery and education. This workshop was presented in partnership with CBGB Festival and the Music Building. It was hosted by Roo Zine, DJ Journey and Ravin Dave

  2. 2. Workshop Two PURPOSE: - Discuss and understand the power of visions and how it can help us succeed. OUTCOME: - Constructive, collaborative conversation about vision, artistic vision, and how vision can work harder to help us achieve our goals. STRUCTURE: 1. Introductions (15 mins) 2. Recap / Set-up (15 mins) a. Flip the Switch - Definition 3. Group Discussion: (90 mins) a. Group Exercise - 30 min b. Group Discussion 15 min c. Group Discussion 10 min d. AIM Lesson - 10 min e. Individual Exercise 15 min f. Present back to group - 30 min 4. DAMEHT Band Meet / Greet / Q&A (60 mins)

  5. 5. Knowing where you're going, is half the journey of getting there.
  6. 6. AIM: Utilize words and storytelling in order to illustrate the importance of vision when crafting a story, or career. Situation: Many great musicians were asked to change their lyrics, while playing the Ed Sullivan show. Most did, some did not. When asked why, it's just a word, Jim responded, "What's your name? Mind if I just call you Asshole instead? Challenge: (20 mins) Our words are powerful, and when combined in unison, can tell a story that transports audiences and moves emotion. Game: (3 x 5 mins) ● Based on the slide image shown, the first person will begin our story with a word. The person to their left will follow with the next word, and so on until we finish the story back with the first person.

  8. 8. Don't worry about the details, just keep your sights set on the goal.
  9. 9. "Just like great songs paint a rich image for the listener, great vision does the same for the dreamer. Don't worry about the details, just keep your sights set on the goal.
  10. 10. THE MIND's EYE #ArtistEngage GROUP DISCUSSION: Have you ever used your mind's eye to visualize an outcome?
  11. 11. SETTING YOUR VISION #ArtistEngage What do we mean by that? What can you do for us? how do we know you are good? How do we know that is good enough? WHAT IS THE BEST THAT WE CAN POSSIBLY BE? WHAT WILL MAKE US BETTER? How do we explain this in 30s?
  12. 12. CRAFTING YOUR VISION GROUP DISCUSSION: HOW DO YOU GET OTHERS TO FOLLOW ALONG IN YOUR VISION? #ArtistEngage
  13. 13. Action Initiation Model: AIM: ● What is the purpose, goal that you are trying to accomplish. (I will do "A" in order to achieve "B.") Situation: ● 3-5 Bullet points that describe the situation and challenge. Plan: ● 5-10 Bullet points of action steps you plan to take to accomplish this goal.
  14. 14. AIM: ● To develop a workshop for artists in order to educate and motivate evolution through dialogue and digital tools. Situation: ● The game has changed and a new digital culture is emerging. ● Technology has changed the way people consume content and make decisions. ● Technology has also democratized the making of art through equal and lower barrier access ● Independent artists today struggle within the current environment ● And are seeking strategies, tactics and tools to better navigate the environment Plan: ● Develop a community workshop series to initiate conversions and begin to build rapport between local artists ● Through professionally led group conversations, uncover insights that artists can use to develop strategies for development and sharing of content ● Provide tactics and tools for artists to use in their daily practices ● Document the process and begin developing a collaborative platform to encourage the sharing of content ● Measure the impact and report back to all involved
