  2. 2. Introduction  An information technology professional, Ravi Namboori supports several charitable causes. Of the groups he contributes to, Ravi Namboori is a regular donor to the World Health Organization and the Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI).
  3. 3. About EBAI  A not-for-profit organization, EBAI focuses on strengthening the eye donation movement to prevent corneal blindness. This type of blindness occurs when a scratch penetrates the cornea deeply and results in blurred vision, extreme sensitivity to light, and scarring. If the scratch becomes infected, deterioration of the eye occurs, which impairs the vision completely. Should this happen, a corneal transplant can be a solution.
  4. 4. Conclusion  Providing healthy, clear cornea replacements, EBAI helps restore sight for people adversely affected by cornea health conditions. EBAI staffs a team of experienced surgeons to conduct corneal transplants as needed, but the shortage of eye tissues available hinders the process. Only obtainable as a donation, eyes can be contributed to EBAI following a person’s death and with the consent of their family. By making an eye donation, a family positively impacts the social and economic state of an affected individual.
