Cracked Pot

  1. 1. Here’s some good old Chinese wisdom!
  2. 2. An elderly Chinesewoman had twolarge pots, eachhung on the endsof a pole, whichshe carried acrossher neck.
  3. 3. One of the potshad a crack in itwhile the otherpot was perfectand alwaysdelivered a fullportion of water.
  4. 4. At the end of thelong walk fromthe stream to thehouse, thecracked potarrived only halffull.
  5. 5. For a full two years this went ondaily, with the woman bringinghome only one and a half pots ofwater.
  6. 6. After 2 yearsof what itperceived tobe bitterfailure, itspoke to thewoman oneday by thestream.
  7. 7. “I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.”
  8. 8. The old woman smiled, “Did younotice that there are flowers onyour side of the path, but not onthe other pot’s side?
  9. 9. That’s becauseI have alwaysknown aboutyour flaw, so Iplanted flowerseeds on yourside of thepath, and everyday while wewalk back, youwater them.”
  10. 10. “For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.”
  11. 11. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.”
  12. 12. Each of us has our own unique flaw…
  13. 13. To all of my crackpot friends, have a great dayand remember to smell the flowers,on your side of the path.
