The aims of the &quot;Bibliomist&quot; Program <ul><li>To equip rural libraries of Kirovohrad region with computer technologie s, to provide local communit ies free access to information; </li></ul><ul><li>To e ducate through training s community members and librarians region wide to use modern technolog ies to better serve the users; </li></ul>
  3. 3. LIBRARY SYSTEM OF KIROVOHRAD REGION <ul><li>578 libraries: </li></ul><ul><li>3 Regional libraries </li></ul><ul><li>21 Central District Librar ies </li></ul><ul><li>4 Central City Libraries </li></ul><ul><li>464 Village Libraries </li></ul><ul><li>86 City Libraries </li></ul>
  4. 4. “ BIBLIOMIST” PROGRAM REALIZATION IN KIROVOHRAD REGION 41 libraries of the region got technical equipment due to “Bibliomist” program during 2010-2011 : each library system gets 15 computers, 4 printers, 4 scanners, 15 web-cameras; Regional Traning Center: 10 computers and 10 web-cameras, one printer, one scanner, LCD projector and project screen
  5. 5. ACTIVITIES OF THE KIROVOHRAD REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER (2010 – 2011) <ul><li>T eaching Region l ibrarians computer literacy, Internet navigation , innovati ve librar y technoligies . </li></ul>During the year these trainings were delivered to 175 librarians
  6. 6. <ul><li>Educational trainings for the community members in computer literacy and information retrieval in Internet. </li></ul>ACTIVITIES OF THE KIROVOHRAD REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER (2010 – 2011) 180 trainings were delivered. 1970 users were taught.
  7. 7. <ul><li>Conducting web-excursions and trainings on socially important issues for scholars and students of Kirovohrad educational institutions </li></ul>ACTIVITIES OF THE KIROVOHRAD REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER (2010 – 2011) There were conducted 50 web-excursions and trainings. 370 people took part in them.
  8. 8. <ul><li>Giving individual consultations to disabled users and to socially unprotected citizens. </li></ul>ACTIVITIES OF THE KIROVOHRAD REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER (2010 – 2011) 2000 consultations were given.

  10. 10. SUCCESS STORIES A reader came to a rural library. She said that her son required medical care. The librarian offered her to use Internet services. Through Skype the boy’s mother talked to a doctor, and signed up for a consultation. After a while, this woman-reader returned to the library, expressing her thanks.   11. 11. SUCCESS STORIES The library established a virtual exhibition “The Charming World of Talents”, using for it the works of young artists Stas Bobai and Olexander Artemenko. Their works were presented to the general public on the official site of Novoukrainska Library. Some of the site visitors ordered and bought the works of these young artists.   12. 12. SUCCESS STORIES The village head needed a librarian ’s assistance in preparing the project fo r establishing a physical and aromatherapy office . To write this project they needed such literature, that was absent at the library. They had to resort to Internet resources . They found all the necessary information with the help of the Google search engine . T he village head used it for the project writing and won the contest . Now therapy office is under renovation. Perspectives for 2012-2013 <ul><li>To supplement 40 rural libraries of the region with computer equipment </li></ul><ul><li>To teach 325 librarians new library services </li></ul><ul><li>To teach 2000 citizens of the region computer literacy </li></ul><ul><li>To give about 5000 individual consultations to the users </li></ul>
