The Networked Image blog: Design choices

  1. 1. Pages:The top horizontaltoolbar features thenavigation for the‘pages’. These are themost importantentries onto my blogsas they hold thecontents for the 5projects. Therefore itis essential that theyare easily found andnoticeable.Personalised header:Using Photoscape I was able to design my own header which showedthe name of my blog. It also shows some information on me whichbegins to introduce my blog. I designed this using the same fonts andcolours as the theme, keeping everything along the same lines.Search box:This theme allowed somecustomisation of the leftand right toolbars. Onthe right I put a searchbox widget. By adding‘tags’ to each post theycould be found throughthe search bar. Thisallows quick navigationfor the viewer, as wellallowing for an organisedblog.Cover photos:The theme ‘Oxygen’ was specially chosen because it allowed for cover photos for each blog post. I wanted to havethese as a feature because it kept the blog from being fully small black text. Some cover photos could have logos orpictures for the relevant post, however for the ones I have added so far larger coloured text was used. This allows fora more visually stimulating blog, as well as making the posts to be more identifiable.White background, blue and black text:The use of a whitebackground keeps theblog from being darkand dull. I wanted myblog to be bright andinviting. Using a whitebackground, with blueand black text keepsthe blog posts easy toread and attractivefor the reader.Name:For my blog I chose the name ‘rachelashby’ (rachelashby.wordpress.com) Iwanted to keep the name simple so people could search for me easily. It alsomeant any further accounts I made such as Pinterest, professional Facebookpage etc could be of the same name and my internet presence could grow.
