  2. 2. Objects and Symbols<br />The Menorah<br /><ul><li>The menorah is the symbol of the Jewish holiday of Chanukah.
  3. 3. The candelabra has eight-branches with a ninth branch for a so-called "helper" candle, called the Shamash.
  4. 4. Each of the eight candles represent one of the eight nights of Chanukah.</li></ul>The Torah<br /><ul><li>Torah refers to the Five Books of Moses – The Old Testament.
  5. 5. Torah was given to Moses in writing.
  6. 6. The Torah is usually translated “law”.
  7. 7. Written in Hebrew on a scroll made of animal skin.
  8. 8. The Torah is so holy no one is to touch it with their hand.</li></ul>The Mezuzzah<br /><ul><li>A sacred scroll written by hand.
  9. 9. Stored in a protective case.
  10. 10. The Mezuzzah is usually found on the right doorpost of most traditional Jewish homes.
  11. 11. Before the Mezuzzah is hung on the doorpost a blessing is said.</li>
