  1. 1. Welcome to IBM Sametime 9.0 A new version of IBM Sametime is coming to your desktop. Check out some of the features it offers. What's new in chat The following table highlights some of the new features available in your Sametime client. Always see how you are presented to others. • Your contact information always displays on your Sametime 9.0 client. • View your picture, location, and status from your contact list. This information remains visible when you switch between your Primary contacts, Sametime Meetings, Broadcast Communities, and Chat Rooms tabs as well. • Simply click to edit your location or to edit a custom status message. Sort your contact list from the Contacts drop down. • Quickly filter or sort your contact list from the Contacts drop down. • Choose to sort your groups alphabetically, your contacts alphabetically, or both. • Filter the contact names that display on your contact list by choosing to only show online contacts. Customize an alternate contact list with the Primary Contacts panel. • Primary Contacts gives you quick access to chat with your top contacts. • Choose between Recent Contacts, Frequent Contacts, or build a custom list of your favorite contacts. • Drag contacts from the Contacts tab to add them to Primary Contacts.
  2. 2. What's new in meetings Learn some of the new features for meetings in Sametime 9. Change your availability status from the meeting room. • Switch your chat availability status directly from the meeting room. As soon as the meeting starts, change your status to In a Meeting with a single click. • Remain available to chat during a meeting, then easily change your availability to Do Not Disturb right before you share your screen. Larger sidebars show you more of the new meeting stream. • The new meeting stream shows you all of the events that happen in the meeting room. • Sidebars now span the height of the meeting room window so that you scroll less and see more of what you want. • To quickly filter the stream, click the arrow next to Meeting Stream, and select Discussion Only. Know everyone in the meeting room. • If you are not familiar with other contacts in the meeting, view the Participant List. • The Participant List displays the photo, job title, and any other available information of each person in the meeting. • The larger view shows you more of the participants in the meeting at once. Customize your video layout. • Voice and Video offers multiple high-definition video layouts. • Use the Video Layout button to focus on one person or multiple people at once.
