We will then show the Windows 8 application environment and talk about the difference between a desktop application and a Metro style application. Most of this presentation will focus on what it takes to develop a desktop application and we will examine the three options available to you: Windows Native - .NET– and help you decide which is the right option for your application. As part of this section, we will spend some time reviewing WinRT, which is a new set of APIs available to developers on Windows 8.Just to complete the picture we will talk a little bit about what it takes to develop a Metro style application. And then finish with a list of tools and resources you will find valuable as a developer.
