Weaknesses in Mocks: <ul><li>Discussing language when you were asked to discuss presentation (and vice versa) </li></ul><ul><li>Not being focused and concise enough when addressing language and effect </li></ul><ul><li>Not exploring/ analysing THE EFFECT of a device (especially use of fact and opinion) </li></ul>
  3. 3. Key questions: <ul><li>Who produced text and what purpose? </li></ul><ul><li>Genre? </li></ul><ul><li>Who for (audience)? </li></ul><ul><li>How is meaning created? </li></ul><ul><li>How is it produced? </li></ul><ul><li>How is the ‘subject’ presented? </li></ul>

Presentational device pack: <ul><li>A key revision document </li></ul><ul><li>You could create something similar yourself </li></ul><ul><li>Important to extend and develop your annotations so you focus on why the device has been used and to what effect </li></ul><ul><li>Let’s look at my example… </li></ul>
  5. 5. A relaxed, smooth edged font style has been chosen. This effectively conveys the ease of preparation of the food dishes in the magazine; it suggests a friendly tone and indicates this magazine is for the general, everyday cook not a skilled chef… The light, bright colour scheme conveys the freshness and lightness of the dishes. This is particularly apt for the summer edition, and avoids dark, ‘heavy’ colours…
