Adopt a biomolecule

 1. 1. Saturated Fat: Stearic Acid Baby Book Adopted by: Kelly Sinclair Wahhh!!
 2. 2. Elements in Stearic Acid

Carbon (18)

Hydrogen

Oxygen

 3. 3. Stearic Acid sticks with its best friends. It doesn’t like to roll with any others Oxygen ( Leader and most stuck up friend) Hydrogen Carbon
 4. 4. Two of Stearic Acid’s BFF’s!

Carbonyl

Hydroxyl

Stearic acid is in their play group at daycare! He works best with them at school!
 5. 5. Organic Compound: Saturated Fat

A fatty acid is an organic compound made up of a long, unbranched carbon backbone that ends with a carboxyl group, or –COOH. A carboxyl group is made up of one carbon atom bonded to an oxygen atom by a double bond, and a hydroxide group made up of an oxygen and hydrogen atom bonded together.

 6. 6. Function of Stearic Acids real family…Saturated Fat

Saturated fat tends to increase blood cholesterol levels. Most saturated fats tend to be solid at room temperature, with the exception of tropical oils.

Saturated fats are necessary for calcium to be incorporated into our bones.

Saturated fats are needed to boost immune function, and to build a healthy nervous system and digestive tract.

 7. 7. What can Stearic acid do?!

Stearic acid is used as a fragrance ingredient, surfactant and emulsifier.

It is also used as the base for the manufacture of other fatty acid ingredients which are used as emulsifiers, emollients and lubricants.

Stearic acid is useful as an ingredient in making candles, plastics, dietary supplements, oil pastels, and cosmetics.

 8. 8. How Stearic Acid makes the perfect child for me…

Stearic acid would make a good child and would behave because it appears to have a neutral effect on blood total and low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels.

It would lead me to not have an increase risk for cardiovascular disease.

Stearic acid is in chocolate and meat, which are not that bad for you!

Mommy & baby 
