The SkyTran and cement plant builds are gone (here is a link to a blog post about SkyTran: http://freshtakes.typepad.com/sl_communicators/2008/02/sl-business-com.html)
Here is the Birmingham build: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Birmingham%20Island/128/128/23
Here is the Topo display: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rumsey%20Maps%203/116/75/56
The rest of the examples were ones I created on my island, Public Works, which I abandoned in Feb of this year to concentrate on creating resources and builds in Open Sim and other 3D virtual world platforms. Although our MuniGov group might be working on a few minor displays in the future on the Second Earth 4 island in SL.

There were a few more I recently discovered:
One related to the building code idea: http://slurl.com/secondlife/FAS/144/20/27
Also, I am experimenting on June 10th with live streaming a public works technology seminar into SL - you can check out that at: http://fvapwatech.eventbrite.com/ - Feel free to register or send the link to anyone else you think might be interested in watching it.
There are a lot of colleges in SL with engineering displays but I have not yet researched those enough to have many SLURLs to share. One recent find was Ulster University's island for engineering education at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Ulster%20Magee%203/181/95/23
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me an email!

  • Ms. Broviak,

I know this was posted 2+ years ago, but I'm doing some research into real applications of SL for engineering education. Do you have some of the SLURLs for the items in this presentation? Thanks.
