• I’m a little but of a stationary geek, especially pens.Because I’m left handed and I write weird…like this. So most pens tend to smudge and get really uncomfortable. With Muji Pens…I have had no problems! This choice of what is good for me is probably quite a personal one, as mentioned!. I bought about 30 odd pens and borrowed a few and tried and tested them…Muji is still my favorite. Also, from over the years of writing and drawing. But I guess that’s all my personal opinion.
  • I found that most people’s ideal pen was…. Not as many people have used a muji pen as I had hoped but those ones who had …..
  • At first I saw some of these really clever wordplays using typography and really liked them. I wasn’t sure what they were for at first and started researching it, looking around at all the different designs I found loads more of these ‘designs’ and became really interested and just thought that it would be awesome to be able to make one of these…. So….may be its not just all typographic logo in general the ones with sort of a meaning?
  • What I like about them Something that seems like such a simple idea but is so clever! And you can tell that a lot of work and thought process has clearly been put into.
  • Using negative space
  • I’ve always liked geometrical patterns, especially when I see them in Graphic Design work. In the summer I came across this book, The Neubau Modul. It’s a source book for Graphic designers with a massive range of simple geometric patterns and I just thought that it was such a beautiful book. All the patterns are based on a system developed purely to generate endless numbers of geometric patterns. The book has over 2000 patterns with a CD containng EPS images.
  • So that inspired me into researching more about geometric pattern design Research,,,,everything leads back to Islamic pattern…
  • Everyone in this room im sure has at least 1 or 2 fond childhood memories that they can remember and everytime you think of them it sort of makes me smile a lil.
  • I was gonan out up some pictures from when I was little but then I thought it might nit be such a good idea.
  • Most of the things we design end up in the trash anyways so as designers I think it is good that we consider what happens to our designs, wether they wud just end up in the bin or can they be reused? Or recycle?
  • As designers, we create designs that don’t necessarily last, like a poster ad, product and food packaging, and other disposable things. We help reduce those limited resources…..

    1. 1. What is Good?
    2. 2. Muji Pens are good.
    3. 3. Why? It does what a good pen is suppose to do…… It writes really well Its comfortable to write with It doesn’t smudge…especially if you’re left handed Its relatively cheap 99p It looks nice Its Muji Which also means that it’s pretty ‘green’ And, again, it writes really really well!! But may be that’s just me…..
    4. 4. So I made a little survey….

Ideal pen…

Black/blue

Doesn’t smudge

Writes smoothly without scratches

Cheap

… .and good to chew?

… .Thoughts on Muji pens Comfortable Looks smart Good for value No blobby ink
    5. 5. Typographic Logo Design is good.
    6. 6.

Simple

Clean

Effective

Playful

Witty

Creative

Memorable

    7. 7.

To make these logos what they are….

    8. 8. bend the ‘I’ a little and draw a thin line next to it….and you get…
    9. 9. Put a small watery effect on the first 3 letters….
    10. 10. Or just simply take out the O and put a small one next to the T?
    11. 12. using negative space?
    12. 13. Geometrical Patterns are good.
    13. 14.

Neubau Modul

    15. 19. Childhood memories are good In childhood, we press our nose to the pane, looking out. In memories of childhood, we press our nose to the pane, looking in.
    16. 20. To me a childhood was…

A time when sitting in the front seat of the car instead of your sister seemed to be the most important thing in life

Or when you really truly believe that your closet door could be the secret door way into Narnia….

    17. 21. Why is it good?

-

Takes us back Fond memories are there for life and its yours and no one else’s If you had a good childhood then those memories will bring back only positive feelings The funny ones and tha happy ones, always has a way of cheering you up It is nice when… You go back to a place from your childhood, see a certain photograph, smell a certain smell When something that doesn’t seem relevant at all reminds you of that certain memory
    18. 22. Sustainable Graphic Design is good .

“ Designers make the world’s the most beautiful trash”

    19. 23. What is Sustainable design “ sustainable design” considers the environmental, social and economic implications of materials, designs, and production processes. Sustainable designers try to minimize such impacts their design may have on these factors. Respect and care for the community Improve the quality of life Conserve Earth's vitality and diversity(consider paper, ink , packaging etc) Minimize the depletion of nonrenewable resources(design for reuse) Change personal attitudes and practices to keep with the planet's carry capacity 5 Principles of sustainable design
    20. 24. Waste=design flaw

Nothing in nature is wasted- it is only humans who create waste.
