“Nothing is stronger than an idea whose time has come..” VÍCTOR HUGO
Dr James Maxlow was born in Middlesbrough, England in 1949. Hispassion for geology no doubt was inherited from a family historyof “ironstone workers” supplying iron ores mined from theCleveland Hills, south of Middlesbrough, to the foundries and steelrolling mills of Middlesbrough during the 1800s.
James immigrated to Australia with his parents in 1953, where hegrew up in Melbourne. His passion for the outdoors was laterkindled by regular camping trips throughout Victoria during hisearly childhood days in Australia, later to blossom into bushwalking, caving and rock hunting during his college years.
He initially studied Civil Engineering at the then SwinburneCollege, but soon became disillusioned with engineering andredirected himself to a degree in Geology at the Royal MelbourneInstitute of Technology, graduating in 1971. It was in Melbournewhere he later met and married his lovely wife Anita and duringtheir work and travels around Australia bore their three children,Jason, Karena and Jarred.
After initially working as a mine geologist in Victoria, abrief sojourn into surveying, survey drafting, minesurveying and home building again saw James return togeology, this time in the Northern Territory and later inWestern Australia.
His varying work experience being directly attributed to thefluctuating stock market and mining economy at the time – anunfortunate side effect of the profession. James spent in excess of35 years working as an exploration and mine geologist throughoutmuch of Australia, gaining valuable field experience andknowledge, which he has since applied to research into his otherpassion – Earth Expansion.
James’ interest in Earth expansion stems from working in thePilbara region of Western Australia. The Pilbara region is ahuge, ancient domal structure, several hundreds of kilometresacross. There, 2,500 million year old iron and silica-richsedimentary rocks form the largest deposits of iron ore in theworld.
What was so intriguing to James was that the bedded sediments, right down to finest sedimentary laminations seen in the iron ores, could be intimately correlated between widely separated sites fordistances of over 300 kilometres. As you drive through the Pilbararegion, the exact same sequence of rocks and fine bandedstructures are exposed everywhere along the hills andescarpments.
James’ studies showed that, in the central portion of the Pilbaradomal structure, some 30 kilometres of sediment and volcanicrocks had been eroded away. It occurred to James that this domalstructure may have been a preserved fragment of the ancientEarth, with the dome reflecting the radius of the ancient Earth.
It took a further fifteen years of working and raising afamily before circumstances allowed James to return toUniversity.Amidst a barrage of academic intolerance he gained hisMasters in geology in 1995, followed by a Doctorate ofPhilosophy in 2002 at Curtin University of Technology,Perth, Western Australia, including a letter ofcommendation from the university Chancellor for thoughtprovoking original research.Even there he had to follow established protocol though, before finally breaking free and branching out into his ownresearch. Years later, here is his legacy.
“They think Im lost, just because I walk in another direction.”
“In questions of science, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.” GALILEO GALILEI
“The problem that mainstream geologyimagines is that expansion tectonics is a threat to their career, research programs, reputation,or at the very least a threat to their intelligence.” JAMES MAXLOW
“We are transforming the old universities into modern shopping centers of knowledge!”
“An expanding Earth is perceived by mainstream literature as having beenproven wrong, so why should they bother.”. JAMES MAXLOW
As you may or may not appreciate, challenging PlateTectonics in any shape, form, or format, is potentially analmost impossible task. The peer review system tends to maintain the intellectualstatus quo by rejecting new ideas. What this simply means isthat there are enormous amounts of research funds that arecurrently being made available to Plate Tectonic research allover the world. The last thing these researchers would want is for their hardearned efforts to be shown to be wrong, and in particular fortheir academic and even international reputations to betainted.
In order to retain their hard earnedreputations, and to control the outcomes ofany outside research, efforts to publish newideas in so called “respected publications”must then be peer reviewed.Because this peer review process isdominated by advocates of Plate Tectonictheory, then rejection of alternative ideas oroutcomes is essentially guaranteed.
During his academic years James met and communicatedwith many wonderful “expansionists” from around theworld. Most notable of which was the late Professor SamWarren Carey from Tasmania, the father of modern EarthExpansion, Jan Koziar from Poland, and Klaus Vogel fromGermany, the father of modern Expanding Earth modelingstudies.
“Really new trails are rarely blazed in the great academies. The confining walls of conformist dogma are too dominating. To think originally, you must go forth into the wilderness. Do not expect to be hailed as a hero when you make your great discovery.” SAMUEL WARREN CAREY

Anita and James visited both Klaus and Jan in about 1995 wherethey gave a series of lectures throughout Germany and Poland. They took with them early, hand-made and hand painted versionsof their earlier globes and found that they were virtually identicalto Klaus’ globes – both done independently of each other. - Klaus Vogels Earth models - - James Maxlows Earth models -
Since then James has rebuilt and extended on the globes. Theseglobes represent the first time that modelling has been extendedback to the beginning of the Archaean Era – for any tectonictheory. - James Maxlow & Klaus Vogel -
“I have been continually amazed that the simplicity with which Earth expansion answers so much of the Earths evolutionhas been so delayed in universal adoption.” KLAUS VOGEL
It was during his academic studies that ProfessorCarey “passed on” his Expanding Earth baton toJames, an honor that he most cherishes.James first met him at 2 presentations that hegave in Perth, Western Australia in 1988. Soonafter that James started his Master of Sciencedegree, titled “Global Expansion Tectonics: TheGeological Implications of an Expanding Earth”(1995).
* Letter to James Maxlow from Sam Warren Carey (1993)
“Thank you for sending me your draft manuscript. I nowbelieve that you are the one to pick up the baton, now I ambowing out. I took it from Alex du Toit. I think the last letter hewrote just before he died was to me... With warm grettings, and my welcome to you as the one to whom I must pass mybaton.” - Alexander du Toit -
Alexander Du Toit is remembered not only as the main baton-carrier of Wegenerian continental drift theory in the early 1900s,but as the most important geologist in the history of South Africa.A field geologist with observational and synthetic powers of thehighest rank, early in the twentieth century he embarked upon atwenty year study of the geology of South Africa which produced aseries of important books and articles over the later portion ofthat period. - Alex Du Toit in campaign work for the Geological Survey of Cape Town -
Securing a grant from the Carnegie Institution of Washington in1923, he spent five months in South America familiarizing himselfwith the geology of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, and comparingthis to the units in South Africa; this led the publication of his “AGeological Comparison of South America with South Africa” in1927, and the even more celebrated “Our Wandering Continents: AnHypothesis of Continental Drifting” in 1937. - Continent of Gondwana during the Paleozoic, Du Toits original graphics-
Du Toit had some success in convincing Old World geologists ofthe possibility of continental drifting. - Map of two ancient supercontinents by Alexander Du Toit -
James was in regular contact withSam Warren Carey, mainly vialetter. However he was not able tosupervise him profusely due to illhealth. His wife Anita did manage to visithim at his home in Hobart,Tasmania, and she found him tobe a very courteous andentertaining man. He was verysupportive of his research.Anita is a Graphic Designer and - Anita Maxlow -hand painted the early versions ofthe small Earth globes.
In year 1999 James then commenced a PhD titled: “Quantification ofan Archaean to Recent Earth Expansion Process Using GlobalGeological and Geophysical Data Sets”. Carey died in 2002 beforecompleting his thesis. - Professor Sam Warren Carey at Wroclaw, Poland (1.991) -
Since his academic studies, James Maxlow has been activelyinvolved with spreading the merits of Earth Expansion, withconferences in Japan, Athens and Australia to his credit.
James has published abook on Earth Expansion“Terra non Firma Earth”available from OneoffPublishing.com at:TerrellaPress@bigpond.comDr. James Maxlow’s bookdeals with one of the mostcontroversial scientifictheories about the Earth.
It is commonly believed that theEarth has been a constantdiameter during most ofgeological time, but JamesMaxlow provides a range ofevidence that the Earth isexpanding in size. Its an important landmark inscience and the questionsraised in it need to be seriouslyconsidered by all sincerescientists.
"The evidence is the most decisive proof." MARCUS TULLIUS CICERO
Currently James is immersed in the developmentof his new book "On the Origin of Continents andOceans: A Paradigm Shift in Scientific Thinking",which is scheduled for the year 2.013.James is also involved with production ofsoftware and DVDs to further promote EarthExpansion as a viable alternative to currenttectonic theory.
James Maxlow has its own official website. Like its theory, itswebsite is expanding and will grow with more informationabout his work and his theory on the Expansion Tectonics. http://www.jamesmaxlow.com/main/
Dr. Maxlows interests in Expansion Tectonics stem from adissatifaction with plate tectonics in explaining geologicalphenomena. As part of his PhD research into globaltectonics, he created models of an expanding Earth fromthe present back to the early Archaean Era.This is the first time that both oceanic and continentalcrusts have been used to reconstruct plate assemblage forthe entire 100% of Earth history.Models were then used to layer global geographical, climatic, geophysical and geological data to quantify anEarth expansion process (Note: Earth expansion = growingEarth).
“All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed.Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.” ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER
The expanding Earth hypothesisdraws on the same evidenceused by plate tectonics, butunlike plate tectonics wherecontinents are randomlyshunted around the Earth’ssurface as ocean floor iscreated at mid-ocean ridgesand consumed at subductionzones, in the expanding Earthhypothesis there are nosubduction zones so the Earthmust expand in size as newocean floor is created.
- Subduction, conventional theoretical solution for plate tectonics -
All these reconstructions are supported by existing andverified data. James Maxlow extends the reconstructionsfurther back in time in the history of geology by theprogressive removal of young basin sediments andmagmatic complexes and the restoration of each area to apre-existing configuration.

“For a moment I thought that reality might not be as we think.Fortunately I regained immediately my mental programming!”
James Maxlow believes: “There is a lot of very strongevidence for an expanding Earth, much of which has notbeen considered prior to this research. The fact that allcrustal plates can be fitted together back in time withone unique assemblage is relatively commonknowledge. The strongest evidence in support of anexpanding Earth comes from the very evidence that hasbeen traditionally used to negate Earth expansion. When ancient magnetic pole data is plotted on models ofan expanding Earth, each of the poles cluster asdiametrically opposed north and south poles.
Similarly, the equator derived from these pole locationscoincide precisely with the distribution of fossil speciesand sedimentary climatic indicators, such as limestone, coal, and glacial debris. Similarly, faunal and floral speciesevolution is shown to be intimately related to thisprogressive continental break-up and oceanic crustaldevelopment. Global extinction events coincide withwholesale climate and sea-level changes, and thedistribution of metallic ores and petroleum occurrencesare readily comprehended. This phenomenon is impossible on plate tectonic modelsand tells us that an expanding Earth far better explains thedistribution of all geological, geophysical, andgeographical global tectonic data.”
“Knowledge which is divorced from justicemay be called cunning rather than wisdom.” MARCUS TULLIUS CICERO
