  2. 2. Definition: The exchange of written or printedcommunications. letter writing is a very important activity inour daily lives, be it for business or personalpurposes.
  3. 3. Formal letters are letters to people who wedon’t know on a personal level. In otterwords formal letter are also know as Businessletter For Example we may write to find outinformation and apply for job etc.
  4. 4. Informal letter are letters of people who weknow at personal level For Example Friendsand family members.
  5. 5.  Start with the address. Top right side of page write the writer addresson the page. After this write the name and address of personor business you are written to on left side of thepage.Example:22 Downer StNY 630 October 2010The ManagerGreen Landscape23 Marple RdLondon SW 19
  6. 6.  Use the salutation for this letterExample : Dear Sir, Dear Madam,
  7. 7. • Introduction: A short introduction thatstates the purpose of the letter/the reason forwriting.Example:I am writing to complain about a shirt I ordered from your catalogue last month.
  8. 8.  Body of letter:1st paragraph: profile and qualifications.2ndparagraph: work experience and duties.3rd paragraph: personal qualities. Complaints justifications, acceptance ofinvitation, qualifications.Example:Firstly, the shirt was not properly packaged. It was dirty and torn and it was not the colour Ihad asked for.What is more, the people I talked on the phone were really rude and did not attend meproperly.I am very disappointed indeed and hope that steps will be taken to rectify this situation.
