  3. 3. Grades <ul><li>A: 90-99% </li></ul><ul><li>B+: 86-89% </li></ul><ul><li>B: 80-85% </li></ul><ul><li>C+:76-79% </li></ul><ul><li>C: 70-75% </li></ul><ul><li>D: 60-69% </li></ul>NO NEGOTIATING Four assessments weighed and averaged I reserve the right to improve grades

Attendance <ul><li>Optional, but in your best interest </li></ul><ul><li>Powerpoints will be put on EKU on a week-by-week basis </li></ul><ul><li>If attendance numbers are low, Powerpoints will not be put on EKU </li></ul><ul><li>If you will sleep in class, don’t come </li></ul><ul><li>If I see people texting and/or playing with phones during class, I won’t post Powerpoints </li></ul>
  5. 5. Final Exam <ul><li>My tests are easy </li></ul><ul><li>Range of 25-33 multiple-choice questions </li></ul><ul><li>Will be graded on a curve </li></ul>

Essays <ul><li>Research Essays of 500 and 750 words </li></ul><ul><li>Essays must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf form </li></ul><ul><li>Essays in .hwp format will not be accepted nor acknowledged </li></ul><ul><li>Essays must be sent to [email_address] </li></ul><ul><li>Essays are due on Friday of Week 10 and 15 </li></ul>
  7. 7. Groupwork <ul><li>During Weeks 9 & 15 you will meet with a partner TWICE. </li></ul><ul><li>At the first meeting, you will bring a rough draft of your essay and exchange it with your partner </li></ul><ul><li>You will read, revise, edit, and correct your partner’s essay </li></ul>

Groupwork <ul><li>On the second meeting, you will exchange essays, look over your partner’s comments, and discuss </li></ul><ul><li>You will then consider your partner’s comments when revising your essay, and submit it to me by the deadline (Friday of Week 10 and Friday of Week 15) </li></ul>
  9. 9. Virtual Classes <ul><li>We will not meet on Weeks 9,10, 15 </li></ul><ul><li>Weeks 9 and 15 will be your writing lab groupwork </li></ul><ul><li>Week 10 will be virtual courses conducted via the Portal and Twitter </li></ul><ul><li>Follow my Twitter for more information </li></ul>
  10. 10. Groupwork meetings <ul><li>You will meet with your partner INSTEAD OF COMING TO CLASS. As a result, there will be no class meetings during Weeks 9 and 15. </li></ul><ul><li>You must include a brief report of your meetings with your partner (no more than 100 words) when emailing me your paper </li></ul>

Essay submission process <ul><li>Choose a topic (any time during the course) </li></ul><ul><li>Begin researching your topic (you must include at least ONE secondary source in your essay) </li></ul><ul><li>Begin writing your essay (Week 12-14) </li></ul><ul><li>Meet your partner (Week 15) </li></ul>

Essay submission process <ul><li>Revise your partner’s paper </li></ul><ul><li>Receive your paper’s revisions </li></ul><ul><li>Discuss revisions with your partner </li></ul><ul><li>Revise your paper </li></ul><ul><li>Submit paper by emailing to [email_address] </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure your essay filename is in the following format: STUDENT# NAME (for example: 2010123456 Kim Jeong Seok) </li></ul>
