Tale of a Hug (Narendra Modi vs. Rahul Gandhi)
A study on the No Confidence Motion which took place on 20th July, 2018 and turned into an act of drama in the history of parliamentary proceedings.
2. What turned the whole episode as an act of
drama in the history of parliamentary
proceedings
What was the conclusion and who
involved in this drama
The whole study was around the ‘No
Confidence Motion’ which took place on
20th July, 2018 in the Parliament.
Why the no-confidence motion was null
and void even before being introduced
Why will it be considered as a big joke
by the generations to come.
What's the objective…
3. Let’s understand ‘No Confidence
Motion’
A motion of no-confidence is a statement or vote which states that a person(s) in a position of
responsibility (government, managerial, etc.) is no longer deemed fit to hold that position, perhaps
because they are inadequate in some respect, are failing to carry out obligations, or are making
decisions that other members feel detrimental.
The concept was first used in West
Germany
Acharya Kripalani moved the first ever no-confidence motion in India
after Indo-China War in August 1962
The peculiar and unique feature of the motion of confidence allows a Parliament to withdraw
confidence from the head of any government only if there is positive majority for the prospective
successor. The principle intends to ensure that a replacement head of government has enough
parliamentary support to govern in case a government falls.

19. Finally, the Facts which can’t be
denied
So what did the motion end
up achieving?
Although a great speech and valid
questions for the PM, Gandhi’s hug
and wink worked against him as it
projected a casual and insincere
approach to politics which should
be a matter of concern for the
Congress.
Demonetization / cash crush Rafale
Poor implementation of GST Doklam
Job promises Surgical strike
Dalits’ rights
Women's security

PM is a great orator,
but his responses to all
the points raised by
RaGa were rather
vague. Also the
concern raised
regarding MSP was
completely ignored by
the PM.
When the PM goes around hugging
the International leaders it is taken
in stride; however when the
congress president hugged the PM,
a mountain was made out of a
molehill by the Indian Media
The media has made a
mockery of the
Congress President.
Hence no matter what
he says, it is bound to
fail and be made fun
off.
