3. 3.

 4. 4.
eej-tee-em-what? Do I really need to explain what HTML is? “HTML, which stands for HyperText Markup Language, is the predominant markup language for web pages. It provides a means to create structured documents by denoting structural semantics for text such as headings, paragraphs, lists etc as well as for links, quotes, and other items.”
 5. 5.
A little bit of history HTML 1.0 => HTML 2.0 (until 1997) HTML 3.x (January 1997) First HTML draft was written. Netscape was the leader in the small browser market HTML 4.0 (April 1998) W3C was founded. HTML 4.01 is the latest specs in the 4.x series XHTML 1.0 (eXtensible HTML, January 2000) Joint standard with HTML 4.01. Used XML as a base and it is nearly a new set of coding rules.
 6. 6.
HTML 4.0.1 and XHTML 1.0 (transitional/strict) Writing specs for the XHTML 2 draft is killed HTML 5 is the upcomming star XML and JSON used for data transfer
 7. 7.
What does semantic web stand for: “Semantics is the study of meaning” “Semantic Web is an evolving development in which the semantics of information and services on the web is defined, making it possible for the web to understand and satisfy the requests of people and machines to use the web content”
 8. 8.
semantic
Semantic web example: Not semantic:
cat

Cat
Machines and Users? Microformats. A way to use (X)HTML for data. A set of simple, open data formats
 9. 9.
 primeminister
Ministry of Web Development
primeminister@ mowd.nl
Utrecht

 10. 10.

The future
HTML 5 is developing. XHTML 5 can also be used xHTML 2 is dead JSON is more and more used as a data- interchange format
 11. 11. HTML 4 < = > HTML 5 Doctype: New elements: article, section, aside, header, footer, nav, dialog, figure, meter, progress and more... New attributes in : tel, search, url, email, datetime, range, color, etc. Depricated elements: frame, center, font and more. All elements that are previously used to style elements.
 12. 12. XML and JSON Both used as a data interchange language JSON more and more used also without Javascript. Why? HTML and XML = xHTML
 13. 13. What’s next? HTML 5 will be adopted by all browsers with less time then other (X)HTML drafts were adopted JSON more adopted and also used for rendering webpages. (No javascript necessary)
