7. 7. What’s aHOPE Party?
HOPE Parties are informal gatherings at someone's home where you can get together with a few of your friends and learn about healthy sexuality in a safe and comfortable environment.
HOPE Parties are a fun and educational way to get factual information about HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, which are becoming more common throughout African-American communities in Flint, Michigan, and many other cities around the world.
During a HOPE party, a certified sexual health educator, along with a party host, will lead a discussion among friends about the behaviors that people engage in that put them at risk for becoming infected with HIV, called “risk behaviors”.
