Difference between culture shock and intercultural communication <ul><li>Culture shock is basically a mental shock of adjusting to a new country and a new culture, which may be dramatically different from your own. </li></ul><ul><li>Intercultural communication in its most basic form refers to an academic field of study and research it also include strands of the field that contribute to it such as  anthropology, cultural studies, psychology and communication. </li></ul>

Cultural Diversity <ul><li>Cultural diversity encompasses the cultural differences that exist between people, such as language, dress and traditions, and the way societies organize themselves, their conception of morality and religion, and the way they interact with the environment . </li></ul>

Main Dimensions of Cross Cultural Contact <ul><li>The Contact Variables are Time-span, Purpose, Summary Concept and Involvement in local culture </li></ul><ul><li>These factors will determine how one handles culture shock. </li></ul><ul><li>For example if a person were to stay in a foreign country for 3 years, for a definite purpose and got involved in local culture, blending in would be relatively easy </li></ul>
