Shriek treatment

  1. 1. SHRIEK Directed and Produced by: Sarah De Biasio and Poppy Potts Production Company: Sliding Dog Films sarahstudios.blogspot.co.uk pottspoppy.blogspot.co.uk You can see vodcasts, videos, and rough cuts at: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqe1kpuwc8ghdrw7471PX0g http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpXcH96I7OgNbA7N2nQ_miA Our Brief: Create the opening 2 mins of a feature film, including titles and an original soundtrack. Film synopsis: It’s Scream meets Saw! A teenage girl is watching a scary movie, and finds herself in her own scary movie situation in which she must answer a simple (or so it seems) question to save her boyfriend’s life.
  2. 2. Shriek is a slasher movie rated 15 due to scenes of strong threat and menace and brief gory imagery. (seehttp://www.bbfc.co.uk/what-classification/15) Aimed at an audience of 15-24 years old. Genre: The genre of the film will be horror/slasher. Our main influence is the horror movie Scream franchise. These films use intertextuality to link it to other films, which is what we will be doing to link to Scream, by asking a similar question to that asked in Scream. The post-modern aspects of Scream also influenced us by giving us an idea of creating a film within a film, such as Stab in Scream. Our film, however, will open the movie, making it look like it will be the movie, then zooming out to reveal it is a scary movie that the scream queen is watching. Mise-en-scene, props, costumes, makeup: The scream queen will be in a pink bedroom. She will have long blonde hair, be wearing makeup, and revealing pjs. This shows she is more mature than a tween by the makeup and revealing clothes, but still naïve through the pink bedroom. The killer will be wearing a mask, like Ghostface in Scream. We will also use a knife as the murder weapon, and will need fake blood or something that has the same consistency as blood (it doesn’t matter too much about colour because the CCTV footage will be black and white).
  3. 3. Locations: The location will be in Sarah’s house and specifically her bedroom and garage. These two places are good because they are close to one another and fit what we need perfectly. They also are free to use. For the first part (the movie within a movie), this will be in a woods near Sarah’s house. This makes travelling expenses low and easy to find/get equipment there etc. Cast and Crew: (Main) Scream Queen: long blonde hair, pretty, slim, teenager, for example, Sarah Michelle Geller in I Know What You Did Last Summer. (movie within a movie) Scream Queen: a blonde girl with quite long hair and pretty/slim. Boyfriend: not really seen in the movie other than tied to a chair, and in a picture on the girl’s phone. Will be tall, slim, muscular, brown hair, etc. Killer: The killer will wear a scary mask such as in Scream. They will also wear black. They will be average height, slim, etc but you won’t really be able to see this as much because they will be wearing the dark clothing. (movie within a movie) Killer: Dark clothing, knife, tall, slim. Crew members would include: director, cameramen, script supervisor, production manager, screenwriter, (sfx) makeup artist, composer/sound editor. Contact details: slidingdogfilms@hotmail.com
