INTRODUCTION TO
BLOCK DIAGRAM REDUCTION TECHNIQUES
• System can be represented by block diagrams
• Block diagram is a graphical representation of a physical system
• A group of properly interconnected blocks, with each interconnected
block representing and describing a function of the system
• Illustrating the functional relationships among its components in a system
• Components in a system:
 Signals
 Blocks
 Summer
 Pick-off
• The arrows represent the direction of information or signal flow.
Illustration
•The output is the algebraic sum of the inputs.
•Any number of inputs may enter a summing point.
