  4. 4. Drip systems are probably the most widely used type of hydroponic gardening system in the world. Operation is simple, a timer controls a submersed pump. The timer turns the pump on and an advanced nutrient solution is dripped onto the base of each plant by a small drip line. Advantages • Extremely efficient • Low maintenance • Easily modified so you can grow anything Disadvantages • The advanced nutrients solution has an unstable pH because the solution is being recirculated • Moderately expensive GROWFOODEASY.COM Connect with us PAGE 4 6 BEST HYDROPONIC GARDENING SYSTEMS DRIP
  5. 5. Advantages • Simple design • Rapid uptake of nutrients Disadvantages • Technical and high-maintenance • If the pump fails the plant roots will immediately dry out. This variation of hydroponics is more technical, but very effective. The plant roots are continuously sprayed with a vapor-mist solution and are not anchored on any medium, exposing them to air all of the time. When done properly, this method can create large, quick-growing plants and lots of fruit. Build Your Own Aeroponic Hydroponic Garden system. 6. 6. A growth tray over a nutrient container, and a pump is used to flood the tray(s) with the advanced nutrient solution. The advanced nutrients that aren’t absorbed by the roots are drained into the reservoir and recycled. Advantages • Low cost • Easy to setup • Drastically reduces water consumption Disadvantages • The advanced nutrients solution has an unstable pH because the solution is being recirculated GROWFOODEASY.COM Connect with us PAGE 6 6 BEST HYDROPONIC GARDENING SYSTEMS EBB & FLOW
  7. 7. The roots of the plants are suspended in a continuous flowing “film” of advanced nutrient solution; a pump sends this stream of solution into one end of the grow channel, running the length of the channel(s) and emptying it into the reservoir the opposite end of the grow channel. This method is great at nourishing roots but is also recognized as extremely technical and difficult to setup. Advantages • Low maintenance • Enhanced root aeration Disadvantages • Higher level of technical knowledge required to build and setup • Higher risk of spreading viruses and bacteria • Moderately expensive GROWFOODEASY.COM Connect with us PAGE 7 6 BEST HYDROPONIC GARDENING SYSTEMS NUTRIENT FILM
  8. 8. The oldest hydroponic gardening system, and one of the simplest, a platform of planters simply floats in the nutrient reservoir while the roots of the plants dangle in the solution. An air pump is introduced into the system to oxygenate the solution. If you are a beginner, this is an easy and inexpensive way to get started. Build your DWC system today with this free step-by-step guide. Advantages • Easy to setup • Inexpensive Disadvantages • Lower efficiency GROWFOODEASY.COM Connect with us PAGE 8 6 BEST HYDROPONIC GARDENING SYSTEMS DEEP WATER CULTURE
  9. 9. This is another very simple method, and no pump is required. A wick (such as an oil lamp wick or candle wick) simply draws the advanced nutrient solution from the reservoir to the growth tray, where the plant roots absorb the solution. This more passive method is low-maintenance, but it can often over-soak the roots, resulting to a smaller yield. Advantages • Easy to setup • Inexpensive Disadvantages • Efficiency loss • Not compatible for modifications and upgrades GROWFOODEASY.COM Connect with us PAGE 9 6 BEST HYDROPONIC GARDENING SYSTEMS WICK
