History <ul><li>The history of Pondicherry dates back to Vedhic Period from the days of great sages like Agasthiya </li></ul><ul><li>Excavations in Arikanmedu, Pondicherry reveals the roman trade relationship and the major port during the roman era. </li></ul><ul><li>Pondicherry was part of the pallava, the chola and pandiya empires from 4th to 14th century, till it became the part of Vijayanagar empire. </li></ul>

Then the Dutch and Danes followed the suit. </li></ul><ul><li>The flourishing business attracted the French to have a settlement.
