  4. 4. God’s Mission....which is?<br />Ephesians 1 is a good explanation;<br />His mission started with creation, <br />Is accomplished through Jesus, and<br />“in the fullness of time will unite all things to him, things in heaven, and things on earth”.<br />

  8. 8. Kingdom of God<br />The lords prayer (Matt 6:10)..... “Your Kingdom come; Your will be done; On earth as in Heaven”<br />What would that kingdom look like? <br />On earth<br />Within us<br />RIGHTEOUSNESS<br />JUSTICE<br />PEACE<br />
  9. 9. Kingdom of God<br />A mission shaped church means being contextual – we must understand our local, national and cultural context if we want to build up the kingdom of God.<br />

Mission is.....<br />Universal (all encompassing; for all; to all)<br />Motivated by God’s love<br />Aims to restore relationships; and <br />Aims to create worship<br />Our mission needs to be aligned to God’s mission, and his vision is for end times of a new heaven and new earth where God reigns in Christ.<br />

The Five Marks of Mission<br />To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom<br />To teach, baptise and nurture new believers<br />To respond to human need by loving service<br />To seek to transform unjust structures of society<br />To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.<br />

We will focus on the first mark of mission.......<br />To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom<br />...... because without 1. no-one will know the motives for our mission-shaped lives (i.e. living out marks 2-5), and we need to get better at proclaiming in daily lives as opportunities arise our witness about what Jesus means to each of us!<br />

  18. 18. Romans 10:9“if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”
  19. 19. 1 Peter 3:15 “always be prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”</li></li></ul><li>Why are you a Christian?<br />I am still a Christian because........<br />Other questions that may help you....<br />What started you off being a Christian?<br />What was it about Jesus that attracted you?<br />How did you actually start off as a Christian?<br />Have there been ups and downs in your spiritual life?<br />What keeps you believing in Jesus when things get tough?<br />What difference does Jesus make in your everyday life?<br />What is a Christian?<br />

  25. 25. Talk about Jesus rather than church</li></li></ul><li>What next?<br /><ul><li>Seize witnessing opportunitiesYour own doubt should not stop you. Remember faith is opposite of unbelief, not doubt. The more doubt you have, the more faith you need. Honesty is key.
  26. 26. Be intentional about your relationships with non-Christians. Who do you invest time in?
  27. 27. Work out how you engage with evangelistic opportunities. - Individual moments of evangelism- Connect with trusted evangelists via home group / church- Would you run an alpha course in your housegroup?</li></ul>PRAY<br />
