Simple past of regular verbs 5c

  1. 1.  The simple past of regular verbs is very easy! There’s no 3rd person change. The basic rule is to add “ed” to the infinitive. Ex:work ( present) worked ( simple past)
  2. 2. There are some spelling changes: Verbs ending in e: Just add “d” , e.g., Change – Changed Live – Lived; Like - Liked
  3. 3. There are some spelling changes: Verbs ending in consonant + Y:Change the Y to I and add ED, e.g., cry-cried; study- studied.Os: Verbs ending in vowel+y. Keep the y, e.g., play-played
  4. 4. There are some spelling changes: Verbs ending in consonant +one vowel+consonant: double the final consonant and add ED, e.g., Stop- Stopped.
  5. 5. There are some spelling changes: Verbs ending in vowel+w or x DO NOT double final consonant, e.g., relax - relaxed.
  6. 6. Are the same of the irregular verbs: Infinitive is used after didn’t or Did:Did you like the movie? ( yes/no question) Yes, I did or No, I didn’tDid you live in Manaus last year? Yes I did or No, I didn’t
