  4. 4. <ul><li>Eric Schmidt </li></ul><ul><li>Sometimes referred to as the third leg of Google </li></ul><ul><li>Born on 1955 in Washington D.C. </li></ul><ul><li>Attended Princeton University electrical engineering </li></ul><ul><li>Attended Graduate school in UC Berkeley </li></ul><ul><li>Worked for numerous tech companies including Bell labs, Xerox, Sun Microsystems, and at Novell </li></ul><ul><li>Said to provide adult supervision for Larry and Sergey </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Schmidt ’s well seasoned perspective has been an effective to the Google founders’ youthful exuberance and impatient goals </li></ul></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Sergey and Larry wanted to bring 2 main ideas to Google </li></ul><ul><ul><li>1 st They wanted the number of times a site was linked to others as a rough measure of its authority </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2 nd They also wanted to automate and sanctify the search process and to cope with the ever increasing number of sites </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Sergey and Larry were faced with 2 major problems </li></ul><ul><ul><li>1 st How could you collect the web on one database? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2 nd How could you get enough comp. power to store and process all of this information </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Google believes in not inventing, but improving what has already been invented its creators believe in this philosophy </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Google has been able to dominate the advertising market because they were able to take control and improve the way it was done </li></ul></ul><ul><li>“ If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants”- Isaac Newton </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Google’s founders truly believe in this quote </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>After looking around for countless different investors Google finally decided to go public </li></ul><ul><li>This brought along many different hardships along with it </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Sergey and Larry no longer had complete freedom </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Their every move was under the microscope </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Instead of opening Google to investment bankers Sergey and Larry opened it to brokerage houses </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Which allowed people to bid on the stocks, where there was no discrimination </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Google’s creators also providing themselves with special rules making their votes 10x more important </li></ul><ul><ul><li>meaning the three Google guys controlled 66% of the voting while only owning 31% of the company </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Google has grown 15% annually, sales revenues grew from 3 billion to 16 billion, work force of 20,000 as opposed to the 3,000 before, Google has also acquired companies like Flickr and Youtube </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>“ Sergey and I founded Google because we believed we could provide an important service to the world instantly delivering relevant information on virtually any topic”- Larry Page </li></ul><ul><li>Google aspires to create new, useful, simple innovative, engaging designs to better help the people </li></ul><ul><li>Sergey and Larry went into seclusion and were able to write “the Tablets” </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Google’s own personal ten commandments </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Google works to expand and help people adding new free features and add-ons </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Cook book- type in what's in your frig and come back with a recipe </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Converter- converts miles-kilometers, gallons-pints </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Telephone book- find an online directory for a specific area </li></ul></ul><ul><li>“ Google’s ambition… is to solve big problems that impact a lot of people”- Eric Schmidt </li></ul>
