  4. 4. 6/27/2013 Survivors told our workers they had walked from three to four days and traveled about 40 – 50 miles to reach the helipad in Harsil where they were airlifted to safety.

The northern India state of Uttarakhand is experiencing heavy flooding due to an unusually early and harsh monsoon season. • Remote location and rough terrain are making rescue efforts difficult • Approximately 73,000 have been evacuated • Up to 1,000 feared dead due to flooding and landslides • Tens of thousands are missing • Immediate need for food, drinking water and medicines 6/27/2013
