TUESDAY , June 28 2011 Summer 2011 at Georgetown University in Broadcast Journalism CAPSTONE VIDEO PROJECT digital storytelling PLEASE SIT WITH YOUR CAPSTONE BUDDY!!!
at this point you don't know what you need for your story, video, photos, etc
before you can decide all that, you need to know what your story is
"Stories are the creative conversion of life itself into a more powerful, clearer, more meaningful experience. They are the currency of human contact." - Robert McKee We are storytelling beings.
a story has a... PURPOSE Why this story? What ideas do I want to convey? What effect can I have?
a story has an... AUDIENCE Who should be interested? How complex? How can I use image, video, music to help me?
a story has... DETAILS What details help with my purpose? How will the details fit together?
a story has a... BEGINNING Grab the audience's attention A beginning is not just a start, it is an introduction into the world of your story. Don't give it all away.
So a story has an... ENDING The ending is where your story meets your purpose. Answer your questions.
- purpose - audience - details - beginning - ending AND: - use of music - use of images and video EXAMPLES
