PeopleWiz collaborated with a major Indonesian conglomerate, to create a
Futuristic Leadership Competency Framework for its Mining Business
The Mining division is undergoing a business transformation. The division has a renewed
focus on Renewable Energy sources , digitization and incubation of new age business
models. At the helm of this transformation are the divisional leaders whose competency
development is a considered crucial. PeopleWiz led the task of identifying futuristic
leadership competencies that will enable growth.
Data Collection and Analysis:
•PeopleWiz consultants analyzed the organizational structure, depth of the current
competency dictionary, studied company values, and gained understanding of roles of
divisional leaders through stakeholder interviews. Inputs on leadership characteristics for
success in the organization were elicited from structured interviews.
•Workshops with the Leaders to understand the key ambitions and preparedness for the
future plans, with focus on futuristic competencies, were conducted.
•A comprehensive literature review and benchmarking was carried out on the challenges
and opportunities in the Mining Industry and the key skills that will be need to manage a
drastically changing business scenario.
•A Future-ready Framework:
•Based on extensive data analysis, PeopleWiz developed a comprehensive framework with
organizational values, success factors and the company’s vision embedded in it. The
structure, language and descriptions were aligned to prevalent organizational practices.
•For ease of implementation, the framework was divided into three broad themes - Strategy,
People & Operations. Mapping of proficiency to various roles was done.

turnover of over $4 Billion. The mining division is known as a superior, trusted and high-
quality coal supplier for fulfilling domestic needs as well as exporting to several countries,
namely India, China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Spain, and other countries.
