9. Notes .... System restore is a very useful tool in saving data and getting you back to work after a serious crash or infection. The great thing about system restore is that it will restore your complete computer to a previous time which will include all data but most important all programs. Most back up systems will only copy data and windows files but not program files so after a crash you will have to find your disks to install any programs back on. This of course didn’t use to matter to much but these days you will be lucky to find any newish computer with disks – the programs are now preloaded which is great when you get the computer but if after a restore you will find yourself buying that software all over again. This guide shows the process for windows 7 any other operating system from windows is pretty similar it just looks a bit different. The down side to system restore is that you need to access the main desktop in order for it to work- say if a virus is preventing the computer from loading your desktop then system restore is not available.
