Economic Policy Analysis
for Canada – 2015
Election
by: Paul Young, CPA, CGA
Overview of Canada
GDP – May 2015 / Canada
Liberal Party Economic Policies
• Canada has vibrant green energy sector
• There are over 700 green Energy Companies
• SDTC (LPC) continues to support innovation
• Canada is consistently ranked in the top 20 for green investment
Liberal Party Green Technology
• Canada is ranked #6 in renewable energy based on UN ranking
• Provinces like NB, NS and others are not working to leverage green projects
Liberal Party
• Key areas missing from LPC statements
• Exports
• Manufacturing
• Resources development
NDP / Economic Policies
NDP/Manufacturing
• http://www.ndp.ca/news/mulcair-champions-manufacturing-cambridge
•
• Key Quotes:
• After ten years, Stephen Harper’s plan is not working. He has failed to make the necessary investments that drive Ontario’s
economy and local businesses and its middle-class families who are paying the price,” said Mulcair. “In the last six months alone,
18,200 people have lost their jobs in this region. Ontario needs a champion for manufacturing. I will be that champion.”
•
•
• Mulcair claims Harper’ plan has failed the people of Ontario! Yet, Jayson Myers who is over CME has different point of view of the
Conservative Party -
http://mb.cme-mec.ca/?action=show&lid=XE8MT-GCZX2-KAD9G&comaction=show&cid=3CWP8-FKASM-JYNFE. Jayson Myers also
supported the 2016 Federal Budget which the NDP voted against as part of the budget process.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tom-mulcair-says-2015-federal-budget-helps-wealthy-few-1.3043636.
•
• Here is what Jayson Myer said on the budget “
• Canada’s manufacturing sector is the cornerstone of the Canadian economy, according to the federal government’s Economic
Action Plan 2015 – and this year’s budget backs up the importance of both manufacturing and exporting with a number of
important tax and investment measures that will have a very positive impact for CME members.
NDP/Manufacturing
• http://www.cme-mec.ca/?lid=JCKNC-E742G-1W6JA&comaction=show&cid=3KPTP-F53VQ-633PV
•
• So, IS Jayson Myers a liar?
•
• Key Quotes:
• Tom Mulcair’s plan would support growth and boost research and development in manufacturing by creating an innovation tax credit to encourage investment in machinery and equipment. For small businesses, which
create over 80 percent of all new jobs in Canada, Mulcair would cut their tax rate from 11 to 9 percent.
•
• Facts:
• Mulcair then tells he supports manufacturing, right? http://www.ndp.ca/news/mulcair-champions-manufacturing-cambridge. Mulcair claims small business create the manufacturing jobs, right? Yet the facts show only
about 1/3 of manufacturers are small business, right? NDP approach is too narrow as they support hiking corporate tax up to 22% for medium to large corporation and reducing small business tax by 2% over two years.
Where is NDP analysis to support this will help small business - https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/061.nsf/vwapj/KSBS-PSRPE_July-Juillet2012_eng.pdf/$FILE/KSBS-PSRPE_July-Juillet2012_eng.pdf?
• Harper already has programs that support aerospace, forestry, automotive, etc. So, how is Mulcair’s program any different from existing programs?
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/canadian-manufacturing-analysis-including-trends-and-assessment-of-government-policies or http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-government-programs-canada
•
• Mulcair is great on emotion, but little on facts. People need to read comments made by business and not take Mulcair’ statement at face value.
•
• Harper has been applauded for his work as he and his team have been helping manufacturing across Canada

Trade/Exports
• http://www.ndp.ca/news/trade-deficit-grows-conservative-economic-plan-continues-to-unravel
•
• Key Quotes –
• Our economy relies on international trade but, after a decade in power, the Conservatives keep posting record trade deficits,” said NDP Trade Critic Don Davies (Vancouver-Kingsway). “While the Conservatives posture
and boast about signing even the tiniest trade deal, exports are actually falling and Canadian companies are suffering for it.”
•
• Industry comments
• http://mb.cme-mec.ca/?action=show&lid=XE8MT-GCZX2-KAD9G&comaction=show&cid=BB84I-8J2NK-TQJCN – key quotes “Companies must be prepared to take
advantage of this opportunity,” said Jayson Myers, president and CEO of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME).”
• http://www.chamber.ca/media/news-releases/140512-canadian-businesses-need-more-than-trade-agreements-to-succeed-internationally-release/ - Key quotes
“Recent efforts to improve domestic competitiveness and sign new free trade agreements are helping. But these alone cannot address all the barriers companies face when entering a new business environment, or
substitute for the need to build government-to-government relationships that open new opportunities.
•
• Exports Policies
• EDC - http://www.edc.ca/EN/About-Us/News-Room/News-Releases/Pages/CME-EDC-Partnership.aspx - Key Quotes “The global economy has changed, and Canadian manufacturers must actively explore new markets
to compete and grow,” explains CME President & CEO, Jayson Myers. “But that reality comes with an element of risk, and securing the right type of insurance can be the difference between expanding your business and
going out of business.”
• EDC/CFIB - Small businesses are small in name only," commented Aron Gampel, Deputy Chief Economist, and Scotiabank. "Small businesses are the backbone of the Canadian economy, providing big support to the
nation's G7-leading performance. Small businesses are not only big generators of jobs in goods and services throughout the country, but they are also big contributors to the investments and exports that are important
drivers of growth." (Source - http://www.cfib-fcei.ca/english/article/2586-small-business-big-impact-scotiabank-and-cfib-launch-challenge-to-recognize-impact-of-small-business.html)
• Chamber of Commerce/Canada – Source - http://www.chamber.ca/media/blog/150421-budget-brings-canada-to-crossroads-/2015_Budget_Analysis.pdf - Key Quotes “There was an impressive list of commitments to expand
trade, with a number of big wins for business and for the Canadian Chamber’s report that recommended expanded trade promotion. In fact, the government promised $50 million over five years for the Export Market
Development Program to help SMEs explore export opportunities - market research, attending trade shows, pilot projects for between 500 to 1,000 exporters per year. There was also $42 million over five years to
expand the Trade Commissioner Service”

Trade/Exports

•Trade Stats
•Yearly Stats - http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/gblec02a-eng.htm
• Canada had $568M surplus in 2011
• Canada’s export to China went from $11B in 2009 to close to $21B in 2014
• Canada’s import from Saudi Arab went from $1.7B in 2009 to close 2.1B in 2014. Bulk of imports from Saudi Arabia is oil. NDP never mention that stats in their trends, why?
• Canada had close to $5B surplus in 2014, but no comment from the NDP, why
•2015 – Trade - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/key-industry-and-market-indicators-for-july-2015-canada-and-north-america-51666561. (Referred to slides 11 to 24). Canada exports for 2015 could be $530B.
•
•NDP Comments
•NDP constantly calls out Harper on trade, but never says anything on their policies. http://blogs.windsorstar.com/business/unifor-ndp-at-odds-over-nafta. It seems the NDP is at odds with Mulcair over NAFTA. FYI – Harper
has supported the automotive industry via his funds - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-government-programs-canada.
• Harper and Ford - http://www.marketwired.com/press-release/harper-government-celebrates-completion-ford-oakville-assembly-plant-transformation-1995483.htm
• Harper and Toyota - http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/toyota-gets-government-funding-to-build-hybrid-car-in-canada-1.1390325
• Harper is not responsible for Wynne and McGuinty’s bad policies - http://news.nationalpost.com/news/824051. Harper can only do so much when it comes to policies.
•Jack Layton demanded the automotive bailout - http://www.wheels.ca/news/ottawa-ontario-share-auto-bailout-concerns/
•http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/john-ivison-with-asian-trade-a-looming-election-issue-ndp-still-preoccupied-with-protectionism. Harper has been clear on trade -
http://www.cme-mec.ca/?lid=JCKNC-E742G-1W6JA&comaction=show&cid=YC61S-DLGDW-GY1GA. Yet, NDP is against TPP - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/try-it-now/?articleId=25152063
•
•I am all for a good debate, but the NDP is not when it comes to policies. Mulcair talks out of the corner of his mouth on policies.
NDP/Energy
• NDP and their supporters complain about Harper all the time. The problem is the
NDP never discusses the details of their plan including the impact on taxes
and/or costs to the average person. If the NDP wants to be next government
then should they not discussed the details, especially since Mcleans called out
their 7 point plan for energy -
http://www.macleans.ca/economy/economicanalysis/seven-ways-ndp-leader-thomas-mu

•
• The other issues with the NDP is they call out Harper for making a deal with Saudi
Arabia for Military Equipment -
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/general-dynamics-canada-wins-10b-deal-with-saudi-ara
. This deal would provide steady work for the London plant. So, why does the
NDP supporters not want to see steady work for the private sector? I thought
that Mulcair cared about the manufacturing, right?
http://www.ndp.ca/news/mulcair-champions-manufacturing-cambridge.
•
NDP/Energy
•It seems Jayson Myers message is a little different when it comes to NDP’s policies as he feels the NDP policy does not address all aspect of
manufacturing - http://www.cme-mec.ca/?lid=JCKNC-E742G-1W6JA&comaction=show&cid=HRH7K-9UE34-ACUS8
•Jayson Myers also said Harper has supported Manufacturing, right?
http://mb.cme-mec.ca/?action=show&lid=XE8MT-GCZX2-KAD9G&comaction=show&cid=3CWP8-FKASM-JYNFE
•So, who is lying to people? I bet the NDP supporters will tell me that CME is in the back pocket of the CPC, right? If so, then how about you prove
that is the case!
•Why would Mulcair not be promoting a made in Canada solution, like the East-West Pipeline?
https://www.energyeastpipeline.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Energy-East-Deloitte-Economic-Benefits-Report.pdf. Mulcair needs money
so why would he not want this pipeline to be completed?
•Another issue I have with Mulcair is his stance on oil. It seems Mulcair is ok with foreign oil, right? Here is some information on oil and trade
between Canada and Saudi Arabia.
•Canada currently does trade with Saudi Arabia including oil, right? So how come you ignored the oil imports?
http://www.parl.gc.ca/Content/LOP/ResearchPublications/2014-104-e.pdf. Canada imports 2.6B worth of oil, right? So, you are ok with importing
oil from Saudi Arabia
•You do not want Saudi Arabia oil, right? The how come Mulcair does not come clean on his oil sands policies? It seems to me that Mulcair is
evasive, right? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/try-it-now/?articleId=25897808. I bet you say “Mulcair does support resources, right? “. Yet,
Mulcair’s team have come out and condemned oil, right
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-mcquaig-oilsands-reaction-cp-1.3184704
•Did Mulcair not complain about trade deficits? So, how is imports from Saudi Arabia not impacting the trade balance?
http://www.ndp.ca/news/trade-deficit-grows-conservative-economic-plan-continues-to-unravel
•I have novel idea for the NDP that is tell MB/SK/AB/BC/NF what their oil policies as part of the election. I bet Mulcair is afraid to reveal his hidden
agenda as he would get killed in the polls. FYI Who has control of mining/extraction of the natural resources? That would be the province, right?
http://ablawg.ca/2012/09/27/peter-lougheeds-section-92a/. So, why has the NDP ignored 92A of the constitution when talking about the
resources?
•Mulcair is also not truthful when it comes to honesty, especially when he stage events -
http://www.torontosun.com/2015/08/10/mulcair-confronted-over-oilsands-stance. Mulcair calls Harper a failure on the economy, right?
•Harper has been clear that he supports natural resources and has stated the natural resources are the responsibility of the province –
https://openparliament.ca/debates/2014/9/15/stephen-harper-10/ or http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/news/story/1.2439412. Harper will support
provincial government with their management of resources like he has done for LNG -

Manufacturing / analysis• CIBC Link - http://research.cibcwm.com/economic_public/download/if_currency_jul15.pd
• US MFG "More broadly, our ability to be good neighbors to US plants, operating as next-door, just-in-time suppliers, has been significantly dented by a change in the
locus of American manufacturing. Since 2002, the gravitational center of US manufacturing has shifted to the less unionized, lower-wage south, or states in the
southcentral or south-west that can be more readily supplied from Mexico. That’s come at the expense of the northeast, mid-west, and western states bordering on
Canada "
• Canada MFG "While a loss of market share to a developing Mexican manufacturing hub might have been inevitable, the US itself was picking up plants at the
expense of Canada since 2010. Clearly, years of an overvalued exchange rate have left lasting damage in terms of our ability to reverse course as quickly as in some
past downturns, where the plants were still standing. In terms of replacing the lost capacity, thus far, trends in non-energy capital spending remain very lackluster
(Chart 4)."
• There is a problem with this statement as input costs have increased faster that the impact of currency rates. CIBC has ignored areas like hydro rates, taxation,
infrastructure, capital investment, etc. in their analysis:
• 1. Hydro Rates - http://www.northernlife.ca/news/localNews/2015/07/09-hydro-rates-chamber-report-sudbury.aspx.
• 2. Automation / Canada – Canada manufacturers are slowly moving to automation via laser welding and robotics - http://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/robot-labour-could-
cut-costs-at-canadian-factories-by-24-study-1.2229890
• 3. Taxation – New proposals like ORPP, Carbon Pricing, etc will not help keep costs down for business -
http://www.2020magazine.ca/_uploads/media/51rg0ppj6.pdf
• Yet, Mulcair’s makes comments that he is savior for Manufacturing, how”. It cannot be the following quotes:
• Corporate Welfare http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/tom-mulcair-targets-freeloader-corporations-in-speech-to-teamsters-1.2774959.
•  Small mfg - ? http://www.ndp.ca/news/mulcair-champions-manufacturing-cambridge. Mulcair claims small business create the manufacturing jobs, right? Yet the
facts show only about 1/3 of manufacturers are small business, right?  NDP approach is too narrow as you support hiking corporate tax up to 22% for medium to
large corporation and reducing small business tax by 2% over two years. Where is your analysis to support this will help small business -

• Mulcair’s lack of clarity - Jason Myers (CME) and others have called out Mulcair for his inconsistency with corporate tax http://www.cme-mec.ca/?lid=JCKNC-E742G-

OECD”, but little else in statement. The fact is Canada ranking overall for taxation is 23 within OECD, but Mulcair never mention this ranking, why?

Manufacturing / Changes
• Since the mid 1990s the following has impacted manufacturing
• Globalization of supply chain
• Manufacturing processes changes
• Laser/Robotic welding
• Module assembling
• 3-d printing and/or other advance manufacturing techniques
• Small Manufacturers only account for 1/3 of the manufacturers in Canada
• Small manufacturers tend to niche manufacturers
Mulcair / Policies
• Mulcair/NDP
• Hiking the corporate tax rate of 15%
• Enhancing CPP which means hiking CPP taxes
• Carbon Cap and Trade systems which add the cost of carbon to
manufacturing
• Innovation funds
Liberal Party / Policies
• Trudeau / LPC
• No hikes to Corporation Tax
• Enhancing the CPP which means increasing the CPP payroll taxation
• No comment on innovation funds/grants
Harper
• Continues to support low tax for manufacturing including CCA
deductions and/or other programs
• http://mb.cme-mec.ca/?action=show&lid=XE8MT-GCZX2-KAD9G&comaction=show&c
Impact of Policies on Manufacturing
• Businesses will look elsewhere or curtail their operations if their input
costs are increase, i.e. payroll taxation or corporation taxation – ORPP
is used as an example as CPP enhancement would be payroll tax -
http://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2015/06/02/business-warns-aga
• NDP / LPC have no control over provincial policies, but will need to push for
integrate strategy to support manufacturing. Neither the NDP nor LPC have
mention need for integrated approach to manufacturing
• http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/windsor-chamber-of-commerce-wants-proof-hydro-rat
Resource Management
• Both the NDP/LPC support Green Energy policies, especially
expansion
• NDP has come out and made comments on sustainable oil
development.
• The problem is the NDP never comments that Natural Resources
extraction/processing is Provincial matter
• Harper supports natural resource development
Oil Sector Financial Statement
Forestry Sector / Financial Statement
Resources - Mining
Oil –vs- Green
• Oil will continue to be key segment as many products required oil as
part of the production process or part of delivery goods to consumers
Oil Sands• Annual part of GDP directly is about $32B
• Oil sands contribute to economic well being of the majority of the provinces
Oil Pipelines
• NDP -

Key Pipelines Impact
• East – West
• Kinder Morgan
Summary
• Harper has been consistent that he supports natural resources
• Neither NDP nor LPC have come clean on energy. Both the NDP/LPC complain
Harper has done nothing for the economy.
Exports/trade

- Key quotes “Recent efforts to improve domestic competitiveness and sign new free trade
agreements are helping. But these alone cannot address all the barriers companies face when
entering a new business environment, or substitute for the need to build government-to-
government relationships that open new opportunities.
Exports/trade• Exports Policies
• EDC - http://www.edc.ca/EN/About-Us/News-Room/News-Releases/Pages/CME-EDC-Partnership.aspx - Key Quotes “The global economy has changed, and Canadian
manufacturers must actively explore new markets to compete and grow,” explains CME President & CEO, Jayson Myers. “But that reality comes with an element of risk, and
securing the right type of insurance can be the difference between expanding your business and going out of business.”
• EDC/CFIB - Small businesses are small in name only," commented Aron Gampel, Deputy Chief Economist, and Scotiabank. "Small businesses are the backbone of the Canadian
economy, providing big support to the nation's G7-leading performance. Small businesses are not only big generators of jobs in goods and services throughout the country, but
they are also big contributors to the investments and exports that are important drivers of growth." (Source -

• Chamber of Commerce/Canada – Source - http://www.chamber.ca/media/blog/150421-budget-brings-canada-to-crossroads-/2015_Budget_Analysis.pdf - Key Quotes “There
was an impressive list of commitments to expand trade, with a number of big wins for business and for the Canadian Chamber’s report that recommended expanded trade
promotion. In fact, the government promised $50 million over five years for the Export Market Development Program to help SMEs explore export opportunities - market
research, attending trade shows, pilot projects for between 500 to 1,000 exporters per year. There was also $42 million over five years to expand the Trade Commissioner

• Trade Stats
• Yearly Stats - http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/gblec02a-eng.htm
NDP never mention that stats in their trends,
why?
• Canada had close to $5B surplus in 2014, but no comment from the NDP, why
• 2015 – Trade - http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/key-industry-and-market-indicators-for-july-2015-canada-and-north-america-51666561. (Referred to slides 11 to 24).
Canada exports for 2015 could be $530B.
NDP Comments
• NDP constantly calls out Harper on trade, but never says anything on their policies. http://blogs.windsorstar.com/business/unifor-ndp-at-odds-over-nafta. It seems the NDP is at
odds with Mulcair over NAFTA. FYI – Harper has supported the automotive industry via his funds -
http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-government-programs-canada.

NDP / Exports
NDP / Exports
Trade / Exports
• Facts
• For each new $1B of exports sales there is 5,500 of new jobs
• Exports jobs pay more that many of the segments
• Exports depend on trade/investment deals
• Both NDP and LPC talk trade, but are not clear on how they would close the trade
balances. For example Canada imports $2B worth of Saudi Oil that could be replaced
with East-West Pipeline, but neither the NDP nor LPC are clear on the east-west
pipelines
• Canada exports are about 20% less than they could be if either business capacity or
infrastructure existed to exports. Harper has slowly supporting exports via EDC as well as
build Canada and gas tax funds. The problem is many provinces like Ontario are setting
the wrong policies as part economic development.
• Currently, there is about 530B in exports. So, 20% would be 106B in new trade. The net
income before taxes is about 12% as such new exports could $2B more in new corporate
taxation. Yet, there is no commitment from either NDP/LPC to look at how to expand exports.
Taxation overall
• Mulcair’s plan
• Mulcair’s spending would require $10-15B in new revenue. Mulcair is
planning to hike payroll taxes as well as corporate taxation to large
businesses
• JT Plans
• Justin Trudeau plan is to hike payroll taxes and not touch corporate taxation
• Justin Trudeau also plans to reverse the income tax splitting
• Harper
• Harper will continue to toe the line when it comes taxation

Economic policies analysis - liberal party of canada, ndp and cpc - election 2015

Editor's Notes

  1. http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/econ04-eng.htm
  2. https://www.liberal.ca/files/2015/06/a-new-plan-for-canadas-environment-and-economy.pdf http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-policy-analysis-green-technology-canadaa Additional comments - Source Article - http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/justin-trudeau-pledges-millions-of-dollars-to-support-green-technology-1.3194875   Justin Trudeau quotes   “We'll invest $100 million more per year in organizations that have been successful at supporting the emergence of clean technology firms in Canada, including Sustainable Development Technology Canada."   "We know the world has changed in the last 10 years," he said. "Mr. Harper and his government have not. Their plan has failed and they have no new ideas. We have to act now."   Harper’s Green Energy Harper has not failed to act on any files including green technology. Harper continues to fund SDTC as well as other programs to the economy: http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-policy-analysis-green-technology-canadaa or http://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/federal-government-programs-canada   It seems there are over 246 projects now that have received seed funding from the government of Canada? http://www.canadianmanufacturing.com/sustainability/sdtc-launches-new-round-of-funding-for-cleantech-innovation-133145/. So, how come JT did not mention this statement?   Example of Private Sector investment Here is what the private sector has said on Harper’s programs: http://news.gc.ca/web/article-en.do?nid=944069 http://entrepreneurship.ubc.ca/minister-finlay-announces-investment-in-clean-technology-projects-in-british-columbia/ http://www.cme-mec.ca/?lid=JCKNC-E742G-1W6JA&comaction=show&cid=EBHG9-BRWCN-HRZ7V http://business.financialpost.com/executive/smart-shift/canadas-best-kept-secret-14-cool-and-innovative-clean-tech-companies   Trade and Exports Justin Trudeau comment exports - http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/justin-trudeau-says-public-transit-exports-to-be-planks-of-liberal-economic-policy-1.2975471   There are over 700 clean energy companies in Canada that generate over $11B in revenue. (http://business.financialpost.com/executive/smart-shift/canadas-best-kept-secret-14-cool-and-innovative-clean-tech-companies) 52% of the clean energy sales are exports   So, how is harper policies for trade/investment not supporting Clean Energy? http://www.edc.ca/EN/About-Us/News-Room/News-Releases/Pages/ifc-china.aspx   I am all for a good debate, but Justin Trudeau always blames Harper, but yet his policies are actually supporting different aspects of the economy, like Green Energy.
  3. http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/canada-ranks-sixth-in-world-for-investment-in-renewable-energy-1.2305515 http://cleanenergycanada.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Tracking-the-Energy-Revolution-Canada-.pdf Liberal Party never discusses how Canada has done well with green technology. It seems the LPC wants to push green at all costs!
  4. LPC talks about the economy at high level with no details Exports are key for Canada and yet the LPC has said little how they will expand exports. The LPC has less than stellar record on exports as they did little work with trade/investment deals that would have open up Asia-Pacific Manufacturing is still key area for Canada and yet Justin Trudeau has been incoherent with his statement – JT told London that they need to get out of manufacturing and then a few days told Windsor that Harper does not support automotive Green Technology requires raw materials like rare metals, carbon, heat source, etc to manufactured/deliver and installed. LPC has been less than transparent on what does that mean for the economy include key sectors like oil and natural gas.

  6. http://www.magna.com/investors/financial-reports-public-filings Magna paid 26% effective income tax rate (ex payroll taxes, excise taxes, etc) Magna has significant operations in Canada
  7. It is too bad that both Ontario and PQ have drove out business or they would be bigger parts of the economic growth in Canada! 8. NDP and their supporters complain about Harper all the time. The problem is the NDP never discusses the details of their plan including the impact on taxes and/or costs to the average person. If the NDP wants to be next government then should they not discussed the details, especially since Mcleans called out their 7 point plan for energy - http://www.macleans.ca/economy/economicanalysis/seven-ways-ndp-leader-thomas-mulcair-aims-to-change-canadas-energy-landscape/   The other issues with the NDP is they call out Harper for making a deal with Saudi Arabia for Military Equipment - http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/general-dynamics-canada-wins-10b-deal-with-saudi-arabia-1.2537934. This deal would provide steady work for the London plant. So, why does the NDP supporters not want to see steady work for the private sector? I thought that Mulcair cared about the manufacturing, right? http://www.ndp.ca/news/mulcair-champions-manufacturing-cambridge.   It seems Jayson Myers message is a little different when it comes to NDP’s policies as he feels the NDP policy does not address all aspect of manufacturing - http://www.cme-mec.ca/?lid=JCKNC-E742G-1W6JA&comaction=show&cid=HRH7K-9UE34-ACUS8   Jayson Myers also said Harper has supported Manufacturing, right? http://mb.cme-mec.ca/?action=show&lid=XE8MT-GCZX2-KAD9G&comaction=show&cid=3CWP8-FKASM-JYNFE   So, who is lying to people? I bet the NDP supporters will tell me that CME is in the back pocket of the CPC, right? If so, then how about you prove that is the case!   Why would Mulcair not be promoting a made in Canada solution, like the East-West Pipeline? https://www.energyeastpipeline.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Energy-East-Deloitte-Economic-Benefits-Report.pdf. Mulcair needs money so why would he not want this pipeline to be completed?     Another issue I have with Mulcair is his stance on oil. It seems Mulcair is ok with foreign oil, right? Here is some information on oil and trade between Canada and Saudi Arabia.   Comment directed to NDP Supporter Canada currently does trade with Saudi Arabia including oil, right? So how come you ignored the oil imports? http://www.parl.gc.ca/Content/LOP/ResearchPublications/2014-104-e.pdf. Canada imports 2.6B worth of oil, right? So, you are ok with importing oil from Saudi Arabia.   You do not want Saudi Arabia oil, right? The how come Mulcair does not come clean on his oil sands policies? It seems to me that Mulcair is evasive, right? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/try-it-now/?articleId=25897808. I bet you say “Mulcair does support resources, right? “. Yet, Mulcair’s team have come out and condemned oil, right http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-mcquaig-oilsands-reaction-cp-1.3184704   Did Mulcair not complain about trade deficits? So, how is imports from Saudi Arabia not impacting the trade balance? http://www.ndp.ca/news/trade-deficit-grows-conservative-economic-plan-continues-to-unravel   I have novel idea for the NDP that is tell MB/SK/AB/BC/NF what their oil policies as part of the election. I bet Mulcair is afraid to reveal his hidden agenda as he would get killed in the polls. FYI Who has control of mining/extraction of the natural resources? That would be the province, right? http://ablawg.ca/2012/09/27/peter-lougheeds-section-92a/. So, why has the NDP ignored 92A of the constitution when talking about the resources?   Mulcair is also not truthful when it comes to honesty, especially when he stage events - http://www.torontosun.com/2015/08/10/mulcair-confronted-over-oilsands-stance. Mulcair calls Harper a failure on the economy, right?   Harper has been clear that he supports natural resources and has stated the natural resources are the responsibility of the province – https://openparliament.ca/debates/2014/9/15/stephen-harper-10/ or http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/news/story/1.2439412. Harper will support provincial government with their management of resources like he has done for LNG - http://www.vancouversun.com/Ottawa+break+boosts/10827355/story.html   Harper gets it on trade and resource management, but Mulcair does not!   http://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/The-Saudi-Oil-Price-War-Is-Backfiring.html

I quoted Huffington Post as way to show the LPC bias towards the lawsuit. This article says 20 years as such it goes to show with all the trade over the past 20 years the value of the lawsuits is peanuts. Let’s say exports are $400B on average for 20 years then that means 8 trillion of exports and only $175M in lawsuits. I think that is a pretty good loss ratio, right?   If you like I can go into more aspect of exports? For each $1B of exports there is 5,500 new jobs. How come you did not mention that comment? http://business.financialpost.com/2013/04/18/trudeau-favours-trade-so-far-so-good/.   How about a looking at other trade deals with growing economies like Colombia or South Korea other nations?
