2. .• World Vision Zambia is working in Chief Mwamba area and is servicing the
population of 55 174
• It is operating in 7 Health centres namely Lukashi, Chilubula, Lukupa, Milima,
Misamfu, Mwamba and ZNS
• The district is collaborating with world vision in the areas of child health,
HIV/AIDS, Nutrition, and water and Sanitation
• Recently the World Vision carried out Water projects in some area such as
Selu Katampa and Mwamba to improve access to clean water
• Trained some hygiene promoters to minimise water born diseases in
selected areas
4. • Most health facilities scored over 90% threshold except
Lukashi and Chilubula
• The data for Lukashi has not being submitted until August
2014. this is because the district had a challenge of replacing
staff who retire from civil service. The centre was in the hands
of a CDE
• A staff has being transferred from Chilubula to Lukashi and
hope things will improve
• Chilubula failed to reach the threshold because part of its
catchment area (Lukulu) was being serviced by Army Clinic.
• The district embarked on harmonisation of catchment
boundary & GMPs following the opening of Police Clinic
6. • The weighing of child in the has been a challenge as most
mothers only concentrate on younger child who are still
receiving vaccinations. However there has been a notable
increase in number of older child coming for weighing some
radio programs organised by Ministry of Health and some
stakeholders
• The slide shows and 1:1 ratio for child weighing between
under1 and 1 – 4 years. The idea ratio is 1:4 .
• To increase the number of the weighing ratio the district
needs to increase on the number of Community Health
Promoters (CHPs) as well as procurement of more scales
• Milima is doing fine with weighing of its proximity with other 3
neighbouring centre. People go the center that starts the
session early.
8. • Malnutrition cases in the disease are not among the top 5
diseases, however some Health facilities do record some
increase in the number of case of malnutrition. Chilubula,
Lukupa and Mwamba has shown increase in malnutrition
incidence rate
• While medical intervention is necessary the district needs to
collaborate with stakeholders and line ministry incharge of
food security
• We also need to revamp the community nutritional clubs as
well as nutrition demonstrations
•
10. • The Vitamin A supplementation in children under 1 is doing
fine. Three Health centres have failed to reach 90% threshold.
• The problem again is with the over 12 month old. Distances to
GMP is also a contributing factor to low turn out for this age
group
• Lukashi data is not in the database and the issue is under
investigation by the DHIO
12. • Even if there are a number of malnutrition cases in ADP area
generally the under weight ratio is quiet low compared to
other areas
• Among the centres under ADP in Lukashi seems to having a
lot of underweight children
• Worm infestation prevalence and other sanitation problem
among children seem to be a contributing factor for Lukashi.
With the help of the community the problem can be over
comed
14. .
• The ratio between Vitamin A and Deworming in 12 – 59
months is supposed to be 1:1
• Chilubula failed to maintain the this ratio.
• This is running out of mebendazole
