Audience

 1. 1. Audience.
Prodigy: Omen, Music video.
2. 2. Our Target Audience.
Our target audience is 16-25 year olds.
We chose this as our target audience because most people in this age category like independent music.
Demographic profiling is discovering who would buy a product by putting them into groups or types.
Socio-economic segments are widely used in marketing, there are six standard groups:
A: Higher Management, director etc.
B: Intermediate Management, Teachers, solicitors etc.
C1: skilled non manual
C2: skilled manual
D: Semi skilled, cleaners etc.
E: unemployed, pensioners, students.
Our Target audience revolves around group E
3. 3. Our Target Audience cont...
Since people have different tastes demographic profiling was no good so the best method now is Psychographic profiling.
Audiences need to have certain needs which must be gratified.
There are four main categories:
Mainstreamers.
Aspirers.
Succeeders.
Reformers.
I think that our target audience is in the Reformers group because it is not part of mainstream music it is a new form of music which is independent.
4. 4. Why 16-25’s?
Our target audience is a good one because teens are the main people who buy or listen to the Prodigy.
This target audience is a loyal niche audience but has the power be a large mass audience.
As more independent music is becoming more popular, mainstream music has started to adapt the methods of independent music.
This means that this certain style of music is getting more popular and with the right promotion people will buy our product.
They are right for our product because most of the people who buy this type of music are of this age.
6. 6. Technology.
We used a camera to film audience feedback.
Used Photoshop, Indesign etc to create adverts and album covers.
I think that it was important to use good software to create our products because it looks professional and could pass for real magazines, CD covers etc.
We also used Final cut to edit our music video to produce a good, realistic music video.
7. 7. Construction.
Our audience influenced our planning greatly.
We had to do research and give out questionnaires to see if our ideas were good or not.
It turned out that some of our ideas were really good and people thought we should proceed with them.
There was one or two ideas that were not good so we scrapped them ideas and worked on what our audience wanted.
Once we had done planning the construction of the products was difficult to produce.
It was easy to get sidetracked and produce work that people didn't like so we had to keep referring back to our research when we were constructing our work.
8. 8. Addressing The Audience
We tried to attract the Audience by using by using Encoding and Decoding: Active audience theory (1980).
Encoding is the process by which a text is constructed by its producers.
Decoding is the process by which the audience reads, understands and interprets a text.
By using the same methods to create our brand the audience should be very willing to buy our products.
People can easily recognise this brand and therefore will buy these products because they are good quality.
We also tried to attract the audience by using a popular band of independent music.
9. 9. Summing up...
I think that we chose our target audience well because they are the main consumers of this genre of music.
We used the technology to its full potential.
We took advantage of the transitions, filters and tools on final cut to make a great music video. We also used Photoshop and Indesign to create good ancillary tasks.
We also constructed our product well because we followed our plan and kept referring to our market research.
I also thought that we attracted the audience well by using the techniques of producers and also using a popular band that people know well.
