Publishedin 1949, it is a typical political fiction and social sciencefiction.Orwell described an imaginary totalitarian society which isterrible and choking, life is hopeless and mind wascontrolled by party, through a detailed description ofordinary people living in this society, revealing any form oftotalitarianism will inevitably lead to people or even thewhole country a tragedy.The Last Man in Europe was one of the original titles forthe novel.

In his diary, hedoubted the power of Big Brother, started to review hissurroundings. No long, he intellectually rebelled against theParty and fell in love with Julia, but his betray had beenddiscoveryed and captured by thought plioce. Consequentimprisonment, interrogation, torture, and re-educationmade he covert and be loyal to party. At last, he becamean ilde drunk, accepted the thought theroy of party. Herecognized " he defeated himself. He loves big brother. ”
