Background - 1 Socitm Membership Board 13/05/09 <ul><li>Web professionals have shown desire for networking, representation, recognition of professional competence and CPD </li></ul><ul><li>(central) government ready to support professional development for webbies </li></ul><ul><li>Sustaining activity needs more than voluntary effort </li></ul><ul><li>Socitm has large constituency of web professionals from Better connected, WTS and related events </li></ul><ul><li>Socitm membership now available beyond ICT management </li></ul>

Background - 2 Socitm Membership Board 13/05/09 <ul><li>Revealed demand – Scottish web group, CoPs, Barcamps </li></ul><ul><li>Frustrated demand - SPIN, PSWMG </li></ul><ul><li>Socitm convened meeting Jan 09 involving SPIN, PSWMG, LocalDirectgov, central gov & third sector web reps </li></ul><ul><li>Socitm board commissioned report into feasibility </li></ul><ul><li>Report recommended Socitm set up group with launch Summer 09 </li></ul>

Socitm Membership Board 13/05/09 <ul><li>Individual membership </li></ul><ul><li>Support for a community with chair and secretary </li></ul><ul><li>Admin support to get group going </li></ul><ul><li>Support to start professional skills framework development and liaison with CoI, GCN, DirectGov </li></ul><ul><li>Presence on Socitm website and support from corporate services eg press office </li></ul><ul><li>Other possibilities eg……. </li></ul><ul><li>Private web group on IDeA CoP </li></ul><ul><li>Socitm Annual conference package </li></ul>

Socitm Membership Board 13/05/09 <ul><li>Up to the group to develop more but initial offer is: </li></ul><ul><li>Normal benefits of individual Socitm membership </li></ul><ul><li>Access as individuals to research briefings related to the web and customer access free of charge </li></ul><ul><li>Personal discounts on events over and above Socitm or Socitm Insight rates </li></ul><ul><li>Networking events </li></ul><ul><li>Training and professional development at preferential rates </li></ul>
