2. SURVEY INFORMATION We asked the following question: In the last two years, how hard has it been for you to make new platonic friends in the state in which you currently reside? The question received responses from 2,151 random US adults. It ran during August 2015. Full results and analysis method at: http://www.patook.com/Blog/MakingFriends.cshtml
3. HOW HARD IS IT TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS? Around 36% report it’s either hard or very hard.
4. IS IT HARDER FOR WOMEN TO MAKE PLATONIC FRIENDS THAN FOR MEN? Yes, it is. 41% of women find it hard VS 31% of
5. DOES MAKING FRIENDS GET EASIER AS YOU GET OLDER? No statistically significant patterns for age after 18.
6. DOES MAKING FRIENDS GET EASIER IF YOU’VE BEEN IN THE SAME PLACE LONGER? Yes it does, and 5 years is the sweet spot after wh easier to make friends
7. WHICH ARE THE STATES WHERE IT’S HARDEST TO MAKE FRIENDS? NB: not all states are stat sig.
8. OVERALL OBSERVATIONS - It’s not easy to make new platonic friends. - Women have it harder than men. - More than 50% of people who have moved in the past 5 years find it hard to make new friends. - Some states are statistically easier to make friends in.
9. CONCLUSIONS The Patook app is aimed at facilitating and kickstarting new platonic friendships.
