Linking your classroom to the wider world
Are you making the right connections? In this session we will learn ways of linking songs, stories and school subjects to empower language acquisition. This will energise your teaching and make your students’ classroom experience more relevant to their everyday lives. We will also look at some ways of teaching important life skills and values, thereby building the learning community in your classes. Transform the way young learners see English and develop language ability by exploring the powerful connections all around them.

Patrick Jackson is an author of stories, courses and apps for young learners of English. With 20 years of teaching and writing experience, he knows that all learning should be enjoyable, happy, stimulating and fun. Patrick is interested in ways in which children develop creativity and confidence. Although fascinated by the way technology and social media have the power to transform education, he believes that nothing beats real world interaction, hands-on experience and face-to-face communication. Based in Dublin, Ireland, Patrick also enjoys organizing study abroad programs for students from all over the world. He is the author of Potato Pals, Stars and Everybody Up, all published by Oxford University Press. He tweets as @patjack67 and blogs at patjack67.com
