  2. 2. Dwarf <ul><li>A dwarf is a creature from Germanic mythologies, fairy tales, fantasy fiction, and role-playing games. It usually has magical talents, often involving metallurgy. </li></ul><ul><li>Today dwarfs are often referred to as midgets. </li></ul><ul><li>This slang word can be hurtful to people that have the birth defect often referred to as dwarfism. </li></ul><ul><li>Many dwarfs prefer the words: little people or dwarfs </li></ul>

What is it? <ul><li>Dwarfism is a medical term describing a person of short stature, with the most widely accepted definition of a dwarf being a person with an adult height of less than 4 feet 10 inches (147cm). Dwarfism can be caused by over 200 separate medical conditions, and as such the symptoms of individual dwarfs can vary greatly. People who are affected by dwarfism are often referred to as &quot;little people.“ </li></ul><ul><li>All though is a physical disorder many “little people” go on to lead successful lives. </li></ul>

Gary Colman <ul><li>“ I'm 4-foot, 8 inches, 86 pounds of nothing.“ </li></ul><ul><li>- Gary Colman (born February 8, 1968) </li></ul><ul><li>One of the most famous “little people” because of his childhood. As a child actor he stared in the television show Diff’rent Strokes. </li></ul><ul><li>Today in New York City, The Broadway Theatre has produced a smash hit Broadway Show; Avenue Q! In the show, a short female plays the role of Gary Colman, the landlord, to display the short, high voiced man we know and love today. </li></ul><ul><li>He is now married to a beautiful woman that is of “normal height”. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Avenue Q opened at the Off-Broadway Vineyard Theatre in March 2003. The production moved to Broadway in July 2003 and won several Tony Awards, including the award for Best Musical.   6. 6. Little People Big World <ul><li>Little People, Big World is a reality television series produced in the United States that airs on TLC. The series follows the six-member Roloff family living near Portland Oregon. Many of the show episodes focus on the parents, Matt and Amy, and one of their sons, Zach, who all have dwarfism. </li></ul><ul><li>Other than the fact of being on TV, they and their children lead normal happy lives. Dealing with the teen problems and parent problems like every other family. </li></ul>

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs <ul><li>Everyone knows the classic tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. </li></ul><ul><li>Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first full-length animated movie full color and with sound, one of Disney's greatest films, and an original classic tale in film history. It was produced due to the success of Disney's earlier animated short, The Three Little Pigs . </li></ul>

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs <ul><li>Bashful- long beard, brown shirt, green hat. </li></ul><ul><li>Doc- short beard, red shirt, brown hat, glasses. </li></ul><ul><li>Dopey- beardless, green shirt, purple hat, big ears. </li></ul><ul><li>Grumpy- long beard, red shirt, brown hat, scowl. </li></ul><ul><li>Happy- short beard, brown shirt, orange hat, smile. </li></ul><ul><li>Sleepy- long beard, green shirt, blue hat, heavy eyelids. </li></ul><ul><li>Sneezy- short beard brown jacket, orange headpiece, red nose. </li></ul><ul><li>Snow White- blue shirt, yellow dress, and red bow. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Verne Troyer <ul><li>Verne J. Troyer (born January 1, 1969) is an American actor and stunt performer. Verne is notable for his height of 2 ft 8 in (0.81 m), the result of dwarfism making him one of the shortest men in the world. As a professional actor, he is most noted for playing the character of Mini-Me in the Austin Powers films. </li></ul>
