7. 7. The Judging Criteria …

The criteria that the judges used for this year’s Young Partners Award were:

Ease of access

The service must be easily accessible to all the young

people it targets. This means you need to know about it,

be able to attend the meetings (appropriate times and

locations), get into the building in your wheelchair and not

be excluded because of who you are. The panel wanted to

see that individual support is provided where needed.

 8. 8.

Opportunities are offered equally and fairly and there is

acceptance that everyone is different and has something

to offer.

The panel were keen that organizations not only treat all

young people as individuals without prejudice but that

they actively celebrated the value that young people

coming together from a variety of backgrounds brings.

The panel were also looking for fairness in the way that

opportunities were offered to the young people involved

 9. 9.

Has it worked from point of view of young people?

At the end of the day do young people feel that their time

and energy has been used well, and their input has made a

difference ? The panel were also looking to see if young

people were encouraged to reflect on and learn from their

experience and that the organization constantly evaluates

and improves its youth participation.

 10. 10. The Questions the Judges asked …

1.How long have you been involved? If they’ve been involved for a while it generally means that their contribution is valued, there are lots of opportunities and young people feel it works.

2.What sort of things do you do? Gives an indication of levels of enthusiasm for the project and staff

3.What have been the major achievements of the project since you’ve been involved?

4.On an individual level what have you got out of being involved?

5.What’s the best thing about being part of it ?
